Cleaning Routine?

Obviously I spot clean any excrement I see but what else should I be doing? After I take the excrement out should I be cleaning the area I removed it from with anything? Someone told me that I should be cleaning the leaves on all the plants weekly, is this true and if so what's the best method for doing so?

I've read that a thorough clean out i.e. the whole enclosure is only needed once a year and it seems people steam clean it.

Here is what I do and this works for me. Everyone will have different ways.

I spot clean the poo pretty much as soon as it happens (my cham is great at being "regular"). I pick up any dead or dying feeders after each feed (usually give her about an hour to eat).

Once a month I take the entire thing outside and put my Brody on a small ficus in the back yard to sun on. While she is sunning I spray the cage down with a hose until it is super clean. I usually boil a big pot of water and make sure each surface gets hit with the boiling water. If the cage is really dirty I will take out the plastic bottom of the cage and bleach it with 10% bleach solution and then rinse rinse rinse! I let everything air dry completely and then bring it back in and set it up.

Then I go get Brody from her basking spot and bring her in. Right before I put her back in her freshly cleaned cage I weigh her and check her over to make sure she is healthy (this usually involves me dodging her bite).

Then I put her into her cage, give her a couple of feeders (hoping she forgets about the weighing and check over) and viola! done!

Do you not have anything leafy or don't they need cleaning?

you mean, your friend clean the individual leaves on the plant every week?
whoa! that is some dedication there.
No, I don't clean the leaves weekly after the initial washing to clean traces of pesticides and fertilizer.

Except if the poo for some other reason got stuck on the leaves.
I just pick the whole leaves with the poo on it and throw those away.

Once in a blue moon :D, I do major cleaning for the whole cage and everything in it while my veiled enjoy sunning for the longest period outside.

Ya I pretty much hose the cage down and dump some boiling water on it. Dont know if that split second it comes in contact with the boiling water actually helps but it makes me feel like it does. :) lol
