ive been trying to keep up on just spot cleaning the cage, but ive just fallen behind / there are just spots that i cant get too. i guess two questions:

1 - temp. housing? if i take him out to actually deep clean the cage, what can i put him in? i have a critter keeper for the beardie, but i know that if i put waldo in there he wont be able to stand up. should i just line the bottom of if with fake vine so he has something to grip / stand on?

2 - is there anything i can use other than water?

im gonna run out to do some errands but id really like to clean it when i get home. as always: any help is greatly appreciated, thank you in advance :)

Hi there. If you don't have any cats or dogs around, you can just set him up in a tree, or on the table in a plant. He should be fine for a little while - just keep him in the same room as you so you can watch him to make sure he doesn't try to make a break for it.

As for other products to use, I use 2 different things - I use Dawn detergent (hey, it's safe for animals in oil slicks, so that works for me), and I also use a product called Nolvasan S (Chlorhexidine diacetate). I buy it at the Tractor Supply store and dilute it with distilled water and put it in a spray bottle. I spray a paper towel and then use that to clean cages. This is specifically for animal premises and I'm sure one of the vets on here can chime in with any other information. I've been using it on my herps for years without any issues, but I primarily clean the bottom of the cham cages with it, not necessarily the artificial branches or anything porous. Good luck! :D

I used some dawn, and went out and got him a critter keeper w/ some fake plants, there's no way i could keep him out of the cage, ive got husky's :D they leave him alone, but i dont know what my dogs would do if they ever went face to face... i dont want to find out either i dont think that would end well as the husky mantra is: play first, ask questions later...

Honestly if he is tame enough you may get away with just setting him on your shoulder while you scrub, just be careful. Or even on the side of the cage if you aren't moving it to much, that way all he does is climb around the cage on the outside part. But as far as cleaning I only use scorching hot water. You can add a tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny bit of cleaner but I myself wouldn't take that chance. But what you can also do is go to your petstore and just buy animal friendly cleaner. But just scrub and it will be fine. I tend not to just use that stuff just incase.
