Hello everyone i recently bought a what i was told one year old blue bar panther and he only wants to eat super worms, doesnt eat crickets that i have seen. My main concern is he looked perfect when i first boought him but today i came home to find some clear looking blisters on his spines on the top of his back. it is only about an inch and a half long, dont look to be liquid filled but i cant tell. He does seem to be bothered if i touch them, hisses a bit. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Cage info
16x16x20
i had a 75 watt exo terra halogen bulb in it two days ago i dropped it down to a 50 watt, he can get pretty close (within 3 inches) but usually is not that close
he has a bunch of leave covering also
My guess is maybe its a burn from the halogen bulb and didnt show up until today, but im concerned it may be something else, also if it is a burn how do i treat it?

i would start by filling out the how to ask for help form, it is found in the health section.
pics as well would be great. it could be a burn could even be the begining of a shed.
oh and Welcome to the forum,

Welcome!
Pics are needed to help determine what it is.
LIke Hoj said, ti could be the start of a shed.
Also, do you have a uvb bulb?
and can you fill out the how to ask for help form, in case it isnt a shed? thanks!

Holy buckets, you don't really mean you have an adult panther in a 16x16x20 cage do you? That is like you living in a 3ft x3ft closet. I sure hope I read something wrong - twice

Blue bar panther
i use a drip system and i do see him drink
i do not see him eat his dusted and gut loaded crickets, only his super worms
he is what i was told to be a year old
fecal looks perfect ive had other reptiles (bearded dragons, iguanas, leopard geckos, etc)
I bought him from a breeder with his cage which i correct is a 18x12x20 i was told this would be big enough for him i myself thought it was small but had never owned a chameleon so i was unaware it was to small
it is a standard screen type terrarium
I used a 75watt exo terra halogen bulb but the day after i installed it he had the bumps so i removed it and went bought a 50 watt exo terra basking bulb, along with his 5.0 exo terra UVB bulb
humidity is a constant 70 percent i have a humidifier in the room, temps stay at apx 72 all day and night
he is in my bedroom and I love in Oregon

if he is truly an adult.. then that is way to small.
males need a 24x24x48 inch cage minimum.
Can you post pics of the 'blisters' please?
stop offering him supers and he will stop only eating them.
do you only use a drip system, or do you mist too?
what supplments are you using?
you can use a regular house bulg for basking.
what are the temps in his cage?
and waht do you mean his poos are perfect? please describe.
Just saw the pics, I dont think that is the start of a shed.
You said they werent there when you got him? are you sure?
it could be remnants of an old burn, that has now scared.

I mist also twice a day with warm water, i just use the cricket white dust and gutload them with carrots, potatoes, It was not present when i bought him it literally showed up over night! his poo is blackish brown with white in it. Im not 100 percent sure of the temps in his cage the thermometer i received with him does not seem to be working correctly so im buying a new one today.I will also be buying a bigger cage!

First, what white dust? this is not descriptive.
Panthers need a calcium without d3 every feeding, a calcium with d3 twice a month, and a multivitamin twice a month.
Or you can use repashy all in one calcium plus as a daily dust with no other types.
I would mist more often than that.
Second, carrots and potatoes do not a good gutload make. Please find sandrachameleons blog on gutloading and use what she recommends.

as forthe things on his back.. I wuold wait to see if Hoj or laurie responds as I am not sure what they are.
Are you sure they arent filled with fluid?

I think you are seeing blisters like in a burn. Do you have access to silva dine cream? I would use it on him. Jmo

I do not believe you can it is an ointment specifically for burns.

I also do not know about burns so I can not give you an alternative :( someone will be around I am sure of that!

I second that, those are burn blisters don't be surprised if his spikes fall off . You should be able to call a vet a just buy Silva dine with out a prescription if not even a polysporin would help some.

Op hopefully you can get this guy a bigger cage soon, being that close to a halogen bulb he is just going to keep burning himself. Try a 40 watt house bulb and see how warm that is. The house bulbs don't seem to have the hot spots some of those reptile bulbs have

If you need any help with how to set one up completely, we can show you pictures or give you a list of what you need. Ask anything we can help & we are here for you.

Thanks Laurie! I am thinking if building my own what type of screen should I use? I've had a lot of other lizards and I have saltwater fish tanks to I feel like I could make him a pretty nice little house instead of the studio apartment he is in now lol
