Closing eyes often - is this normal?

Its a 18" flourescent tube.

I used the search button and found a few other threads but no for sure answer since their problems are not exactly the same as mine.

I am going to try to mist so it can kinda clean his eyes, but not mist him directly.

I dont think Reptar ate at all yesterday, there were ALOT of crix in there this morning, alot more than normal, and he looked VERY skinny when I turned his lighs on this morning, would it be cause he has not ate yet? He pooped on the leaf he slept on so I know he has to have eaten something.. but I am worried he is not eating enough...

Once I misted, and got his lights on, he kinda moved around and didnt appear so skinny, and was really bright today, he hasnt been closing his eyes at all since yesterday, I think misting over him kinda cleaned his eyes out.

He has a strong grip and is moving around, and appears to be perfectly healthy, just skinny and not eating enough!

EDIT - Here is a pic I just took of him, I can almost see his ribs through his skin, but just barley see the outline of them.. He closed his eyes when I took the pic I think he was scared of my cell phone.

Not much of a brown spot, unless it fell off the leaf, all I saw was a white part with a small brown spot, about half the size of the white part.

OK-check your temps again-maybe go up to 85 without cooking him. I had to get mine a little warmer to get him to eat at first.

Alright, his basking spot was 77 when I left, it gets to 81, ill put a brighter bulb in and see if that helps.

I have only seen him bask 2 days out of the 8 I have had him, he usualy hangs out away from the hot spot..

He is eating, just not 18-20 a day like I was expecting. I bought 75 crix last week at petsmart, and still have some left. (~20)

Yeah I can try, I can see if any of my friends have one.

I am at work, but ill have an update on how he is doin' today when my roomate calls me at 4 when he wakes up.

He looked skinny again this morning, but I put 2 tiny 1/4" meal worms in there, and he at them within an hour, while I was getting ready for work.

I am thinking he is on a cricket strike already? Is this even possible at his age?

I noticed there are 2-3 larger crix in his tank, too big for him to eat, but there are also like 15 smaller crix in there from yesterday.. Would that cause him not to want to eat the smaller ones or something? I am going to try to get them out of there, they jump though so its hard.

I was looking into that, they are just so expensive.

Where do you guys get yours from?

How many would he need eat a day?

I went ahead and ordered 100 mini silk worms (1/8th") with food for $25 shipped, is that a good price?

I got it shipped pirority mail, will they be okay like that? What should I keep silk worms in, is there a care article around?

I got them from Silkwromshop.com or something like that.

You said..."Temps - 78-80f in basking / 68-75 ambient"...you said you were going to raise the basking temperature....did you do that? Is the whole cage warmer then? If he's not warm enough, then he will have problems digesting his food, but by the same token, if he's too warm he could dehydrate/cool off too quickly. I try to keep babies so there isn't a wide variation in temperature throughout the cage.

What light are you using for the basking light....just a regular household bulb or what?

Glass 30WX24LX12W..you have two "W's" in this...how high is the cage? You said he wasn't basking much. Where is he spending most of his time?

You said you use meal worms...I'm not a fan of them...they might cause constipation/blockage.

You said you have a fan going...does it run after his lights are off for the night? It might be too drafty for him.

I dust the insects for the babies with a phosphorous-free calcium powder at almost every feeding. I dust twice a month with a vitamin powder that has a beta carotene source of vitamin A and twice a month with a phos.-free calcium/D3 powder because my veiled babies only get UVB light from a Repti-sun 5.0 tube light. I gutload the crickets with an assortment of greens (dandelion, kale, collards, endive, escarole, mustard greens, etc.) and veggies (carrots, squash, zucchini, sweet potato, sweet red pepper, celery leaves, etc.).

None of these might be why he is shutting his eyes...but they are worth looking at.

He spends most of his time either in the taller part on the right, or down in the basking spot which is lower on the left

His eyes seem to be fine now, he just looks a lil skinny now.

I agree with Kinyonga's post on your other thread ... he looks too skinny.
A wellness check would be a really good idea.
Also, if he is accepting those silkworms ... give him as many as he will eat in a couple of controlled feedings per day.

He ate 2 this morning, ill put a few more in today. He looks "fat" now, not skinny anymore, he only looked like that in that picture when I spooked him it was weird.

I will look for a vet near me, any suggestios for a good one in phoenix anyone? How much should I expect to pay for a check up? What should I take him to the vet in? I have a small cricket kepper I was thinking that might work?

Worse case scenario, if my cham dies, does anyone know FL Chams policy on dead pets? Would I maybe get a discount on a new one?

Reading this post I would agree with brad and kinyonga. He does look like my cham when hiding in your other post but the pics on this he dont look very good.
