hi everyone,

well at 10:00am my male ambilobe came by ups.
Liddy from Kammerflage Kreations picked out a beauty for me.

I only held him for just a moment before putting him in the cage.
he has tons of colors already. specks of green and tons of red.

btw, the reason I am calling him clumsy is because he is so active right out of the container, that he already fell twice...
once from my hand to my table (only a few inches, I was careful), and once while trying to grab hold and climb up the side of the cage a little too fast.

made a video of him comming out of the container and him entering the cage.
will post links later after I upload them to youtube.

here are two quick photos of him, and yes, he looks like he is shedding on his belly.

yeah, even when I let him get out of the container by himself, he only got three feet on the rim before he fell back inside. so I poked my finger in the container and he ran up my finger no problem...
only to run upto my elbow befor falling to the table. lol

btw, after reading your reply, and your use of the word "splat", I think that would be a better name for him. I hope you don't mind.:D

hey Jay,

like most babys, he's mostly hanging upside down on the top of the cage...at least when I first put him in.
the cage was well misted before I put him in like you said I sould do.
but before I left to do a quick job to help pay for this fine panther, I had to try misting as he did not drink for the first 10 mins that he was in there.
so I misted for what seemed like forever (maybe 2 or 3 mins, off and on) even the top of the cage screen...and he took a quick drink upside down from a leaf. then he started to drink from the screen.

he had no fear or problems with me even misting his tail and his rear end. he didn't run away at all.
he seemed to like it.
he drank alot. off and on for about 2 mins that I saw. (didn't want to bother him to much, and I had to leave the house anyway.)

I just misted again, after taking a few more pics.
I didn't see him drink, but I think he was upset from me taking some flash photos. so after misting, I left him alone.

I'll post more pics later tonight after I take a nap.

with love from,
Harry and Splat

Congrats on the baby! It's a beauty! Enjoy it while it's little cause it doesn't last long.

When they're young if they get nervous they have a tendency to climb faster than they can get a grip. I had to be very careful not to startle my little guy when he was young. He's start trying to climb on the screen, and was in danger of slipping. He fell a couple times, but never far enough to hurt himself.
