Well we have decided it is time to mate Elwood and Leeloo, our Nosy Be Panthers. This will be the first time mating for both Chams. She is almost 2 years old and he is around 14 months, so they are both at mature and ready to breed.

The problem is that Elwood is failing to get the job done.

Attempt #1: I had him on a group of plants out in the natural sun, and I introduced her. Her behavior was receptive, and he showed a lot of headbobbing and proceeded to chase her. Well what looked like it was going to be successfull turned into a missed shot. They assumed the position... But it looked like he didn't know where to put it. They were on the edge of a planter, and as he asserted his effort he ended up falling off, and grabbing onto her tail to pull himself back up before he could hit the ground. They would sit as if in copulation, but they werent. Eventually she moved away....He lost interest.

Attempt #2: The next day, I introduced her to his cage... She was still receptive, He bobbed his head briefly but never pusued, I left them for the day, and returned to find them relaxing in seperate areas of the cage, and no change in her behvior. I think they just "talked" all day.

Attempt #3: The next day I decided to try introducing him to her cage... He did not like it, Changed to stress colors and waited by the exit for the cage trying to escape.

What should I do? When my other males mated for their first times they seemed to know exactly what to do. I seem to have a sexually challenged male.

I am affraid all this interaction is causing her to cycle eggs without fertilization.

Any Advice? Thanks

~Joe

Has anyone ever had this problem and been able to get passed it?

I am curious... I keep trying as he keeps acting like he may be interested, and she is obviosly receptive, but he never gets the job done! I'm afraid if I keep trying at it I am afraid I am going to just be stressing them out. He gets his Hemi's out and everything, and he just hugs her, but fails to put them in the right spot. Does he need assistance somehow? Nobody has any other tricks I could try huh?

My male ambi was weary like you described at first when my female became receptive. Just leave them together until she rejects him. My pair were together for like 6 days and they would never begin copulating in front of me but i'd walk in randomly during the day and they were fully engaged. Just put them together and leave them alone. He'll get the job done.

Some lube j/k What Nico said sounds perfect though. Just leave them together until she gets pissed. I had my nosy's together and was never quite sure if he got the job done, but two weeks ago she laid me 13 little perfect white eggs, that have yet to mold. So they were just sneaky and did it when I wasn't around. Today......now thats a totally different story......no shyness at all. If you need some help accessing some porn, I may be able to help you out. Things are just CRAZY over here today as far as that goes  lol.

LOL... Thanks a lot everyone...

I think I will put them together today when I get home. They will stay like that until they decide to be good chameleons and "Bump Uglies" :D;)for me... Thanks for the input guys.

Who knows they may loosten up Leeloo.

Leeloo is practically begging for some action... She couldn't be any more obvious; with her tail up in the air looking back over her shoulder saying "Hey there, Ever seen one of these before?":D

This is how my Oustalets are-Emerald is totally receptive and waiting and Oscar ignores her completely. Now I notice that both she and Oscar are flirting with Evil Nosy. He is obviously somewhat confused!

UPDATE:

Last night when I got home I put her back in with him... She went right for his branch...again. She crawled up from underneathe him...and assumed the "cheek to cheek" position on her own... It was to freaking addorable! But he freaked! He showed stress colors right away, then climbed onto the screen on the cage door and stayed there waiting for a way to escape all night.:(:(:( Her presence seems to really bother him... He doesn't bob his head at her anymore...Just gets scared and tries to get away. I really feel bad for her... She looks so discouraged when he tries to get away, and sits there looking pretty and watches him and always slowly pursues him. My girl is to pretty to have to deal with rejection! They are still together...And I am hoping to walk in on some Hanky Panky when I get home. But as of now... It appears my Mature Nosy Be Male still has no interest in the ladies.:( This bums me out.

lol im sorry to hear that socali

you never know he migth not be interested in females try to put a male in there and see if he will try and mount the male

lol i think you should wait a couple days and let them relax a little and then try again

I have a mature NosyBe male, Emmet, who is apparently Gay, or maybe just ... generally uninterseted. He has no interest in the ladies. He doesnt flash colours if he sees one of the other males (though they do). He just calmly sits there looking beautifully aloof. Perhaps no one else is good enough for him. I've just about given up on him ever fathering any little ones. But we still love him just the way he is.
Luckily, Emmet's siblings do not seem to share Emmet's reluctance.

This is how you do it:

hmmmmm well it looks like there are a lot of helpful opinions here, but maybe you should slip him a roofie or something like that so she can take advantage of him ;)
she seems to want it so i'm sure she'd figure it out

Joe I had a male that I thought wasn't interested. I showed him to my female and my female run up to him:) and he freaked out. One he even tryed to attack! I showed him to her and he showed the same simptoms you discribed. I gave up on him, until 3 months later. He was too beutiful I needed offspring. I placed him in my females enclosure and he looked at her them BAM started chasing her and they successfully copulated. I realised that he got more scared when I kept on showing him to her, like I was forcing him. I would wait a while longer, dont show him to her in the meantime. I do know that there are some chams that arent interested ever, but If yours went on top of her, then It seems like he isn't. Maybe he doesn't like older women :p

Is this all happening inside? Try taking them outside and letting them chill for awhile outside out of view of each other then introduce them after they've been outside for awhile. Ive heard scenarios where the male or female has no interest indoors but when allowed to go outside in natural sunlight and conditions it triggers a breeding response.
