Cold temps. Will it impact the duration of time before my veiled lays her eggs?

I would just like to find out about this. Here in South Africa it is winter time and it is a rather cold one this year. I just want to find out if the cold weather will cause my females to take longer before they lay their eggs. My one female has been gravid now for 5 weeks tomorrow and still no sign of her wanting to lay. Is this normal or should I start to worry?

But you should still be mildly concerned at this point.

If she isn't looking lumpy you probably have nothing to worry about at this point.

Prior to laying, the abdominal muscles will start applying pressure to the eggs and they will become more defined within her- the bag of marbles effect. If you have been observing her carefully, it will look different than it has to this point- more defined. She may be lumpy prior to this, but it is a bit more extreme. If she looks like this for more than a day or so and she hasn't begun digging, or digs and doesn't settle, then you should be concerned.

Sometimes if they don't have many eggs in a particular clutch this may not be a great way of judging things though... Usually with veileds judging this isn't a problem.

Nope she doesnt look like she has marbles in her she is just swelling up at the moment! So I dont have to worry right now?

Well, I'm not actually there to observe the lizard, but IMO if she doesn't look that way and if she is still feeding and if she isn't trying to dig, I think you are still fine for now.
