It actually was warm here in Colorado today, which makes me excited that spring is on the way! Not only will the reptiles be excited to get outdoor time again, but I'm getting pumped for hiking season! Don't get me wrong, skiing is awesome! But the hiking around here is phenomenal. Thought I'd post some pics from hiking last summer to share the joy and show you why I moved. ;)

From the top of Mt Bierstadt (14,264') - one of my favorite hikes so far because the valley is so picturesque:

This is Blue Lake, a big gorgeous glacial lake near the top of the mountain (my other favorite hike):

This little lake area is literally at the top of a mountain:

Nearly ran into this moose on the trail!

Beaver dam!

Moki loves peering over the edge as much as I do! She goes and just stands there looking at the view like a little person:

And we like to play Lion King with our pug. :)

Epic vistas!! Have you started seeing many wolves coming down from Wyoming yet? We have got one wild wolf in Northern California. California Condors are awesome to watch flying around with their ten foot wing spans in mountain canyon and coastal cliff habitats here in California. Seeing flocks of condors I imagine is spectacular.

Amazingggg! And that last pic is priceless! Lol

Thank you for sharing Ferret :)

Thanks! :)

I haven't heard anything about an influx of wolves yet. But I wouldn't be surprised. I've seen a few bald eagles, which are really big already! Can't image how big the condors are!

that last pic made me queasy, guess the older i get the more i like low places.

Oh I couldn't watch my husband going out to the edge without freaking out! He said he was actually nowhere near the edge, but I still couldn't watch him walk out there!

Im a native in colorado!!=P what area are you in??

South Denver. :) You?

If you'd seen them you know immediately. Bald Eagles have got a seven foot wing span Condors have got nine and one half wing span. Colorado is part of their historic range meaning you have got an outside shot at spotting one. When they first started reintroducing them to the Grand Canyon they had five of them fly to to Flaming Gorge Wyoming and back in about a five day period. They are big and fly amazingly fast and unlike eagles if your extremely lucky they can be seen flying in groups of a dozen or more (unless your on a salmon spawning river).

CO is the place...

I live in a Los Angeles suburb and pretty much have every type of terrain within a two hour radius. Having said that, there is no where that close as magnificent as your photos!

My dog loves the outdoors and I am all for finding great places for her to venture. She loves snow and I know would love CO!

Large warm meadows make me so happy... but I am always afraid for my dog. Do you have snakes or other dangerous creatures in that area?

I bet she would! My dogs truly love hiking in the mountains! We do have rattlesnakes, but not really up in the mountains since it stays pretty chilly even during summer up there. But out of the mountains it is a risk. Up in the mountains we do have mountain lions, but they stay away from main trails, especially during the day. But it's not wise to let dogs wander out of sight for that reason. Otherwise there's really not too much to worry about...

Those are some awesome pics., we love traveling to Colorado and hiking, camping and photography...my husband is a professional nature photographer and he has some of the most awesome photos from there....I do envy you, being able to enjoy that scenery everyday....a dream for me....would really love to see some more of your pics.
