Hello all...and Happy 2016 to everyone!

Here is my Cham Torch, he is a male Tamatave and gonna be 9 months old. Anyone can suggest when he should be coloring up? He went from beige and brown to a faint beige and Teal but I see only red little speckling.

At his age this is probably as good as it gets. Their fired up colors are always more intense than their laid back colors, Hope this was helpful :)

P.S. I think he is beautiful.

I would say there will be some more development in color. I'm not experienced with Tamatave chams, but I've seen quite a few that have amazing yellows or reds and I would think the red spots are just a glimpse of what is to come. Even if there isn't a lot more, he is a great looking chameleon and its is an underrated (IMO) breed.

He's only half way there. My Ambilobe is about 1 1/2 years old and is still popping up with colors in different areas after shedding. I believe they say around 18 months is when they reach their full potential. I'm not familiar with Tamatave panthers though.

Are you sure he is not a she?

That's definitely a male. The hemipenel bulge is pretty visible.

Buy 9 months old he should be close to his adult colours not to say he won't keep getting more colourful but usually at 9 months there showing pretty good try putting him in front of a mirror should fire him up

Really my ambilobe is 9 months and he'll get more yes I thought this was nice

If you do get a warm day up there in NY, you can try some good old sunshine to help bring out some great colors. This may take a while since I think cool weather has just come back for you.

He's a monster for only 8 months!!! I've never seen a tamatave look like that before. But maybe he's just a late bloomer. At 8 months old he's still got plenty of time to show some more color. He should continue to gain color for a whole nother year. Maybe even a couple more months on top of that. Normally panther males continue to gain color for 18 months to 2 years.

Did you buy him from a reputable breeder? Often times chameleons are sold as one specific locale and turn out to be another. If who you got him from did not breed him themselves it is hard to say what you have there! Right now he does not look Tamatave, but as others have said, maybe he is a late bloomer.
