Community Chameleons?

Do you mean by community to live together in one cage? I certainly wouldn't do that with Jackson's unless it is a huge cage with a lot of visual protection from each other. I might be wrong but maybe carpets and meller's and parson's might be more suitable for this.

I'm pretty sure Jackson's are community chams?

Yeah I was thinking that they were not. A lot of people have done it successfully but I wouldn't chance it to much. UNless you have a huge cage, huge huge cage lol that would be amazing to have a massive cage :)

oh god, ive been gone for so long and ive come back to see the same old posts. No you do not KNOW that jacksons are a community chameleon. as they simply are NOT. certainly they seem more tolerant of one another. however this is a falsification perpetuated by novice keepers.

this minor stress seems like nothing at all until it compounds itself into a serious issue. and then you find yourself questioning what exactly happened. well you lack experience is all. and you were fed miss information.

it a particularly large captive environment where multiple basking locations and sources of water and food are provided it is manageable. but by no means would i house sexually mature chameleons in a standard sized cage. even if the tolerance level seems exceptional.

if youre housing two jacksons together they may be forgiving, but as an experienced keeper i would separate them to avoid any potential issues in the future. provided they are being kept under ideal conditions as is.

if you contest the perspective that they should be separated expand the current enclosure and provide as much foliage as possible.

And just to add onto what he said, my very good friends were housing two juvenile jacksons together(male and female) and the female ended up starving and dehydrating the male by preventing him from eating. Before they finally found out what was wrong at the vet it was to late and he died a couple of days later because he was so weak. Like he said, really would not do that to the animals.

I'm sure you could get yourself a little community of pygmy chameleons going? Maybe they're not the most beautiful chameleons they sure are interesting to watch roaming around.

From what I read on here, wriiten by the experinced keepers, you should not keep any chameleons together (apart from pygmys, evenm then I think it's only one male to a group of females) unless you are a VERY VERY experienced keeper.

Usually what will happen is one will be the alfa and the other one will starve, won't get the good basking spots, become dehydrated etc. I have also sen cases wgere the alfa will grow a lot bigger and EAT the other one!

IMO thiss is a very bad idea and I would never do it.
