Compact bulb okay for a couple days?

No its not ok for " a couple of days " i had one of those compact bulbs and it uv burned the crap out of my Veild ! and guess what, i had it in there for 3 days. and it did alot of damage. i am supprised but very glad it did not kill him. if you dont have the money put him by a window. real sun is better than fake, but no uv for a few days is better than one of those compact bulbs. get the Repti-SUN 5.0 like everyone talks about

Just remember to make sure that it is an open window. Behind a closed window, the sunlight coming in will only provide warmth, but no UVB, since UV light is filtered out by regular glass or plastic.

Stay away from the CF's.

I have a stupid large habitat at 8' x 7' x 30" . I thought the size would help mitigate any problems and guess what! within two days one of my Quads had burns and eye problems. A week after the CF was removed the problems had gone away. As an experiement, I placed the CF over one of my bearded dragons and he loved it! The UV coming from these bulbs is just too intense for the chams...desert critters on the other hand seem to use it ok.
