Compact fluorescent...shocking uvi’s

There are few things that make me more livid than seeing an actual set up like that with the implied notion that it is sufficient unto itself for a live animal. The things they'll say and do to make a buck is disheartening. I would lose my poop if I saw a cham in something like that. Yes, in theory it would provide enough UVB but those benefits are immediately negated by the low to absent quality of life that set up lends itself to.
Absolutely agree!!! But it makes money and no one speaks loud enough to change things.

Allow me to introduce you to instagram!
Really?

I agree with both of you. The problem is that zoomed won’t listen until their bottom line is affected. And that’ll be hard to do with all the other good zoomed products out there such as reptisun T5s, solarmeters, supplements etc. Capitalism is a bit of a multiheaded beast.

There is a thread of mine where I got into a bit of a "F*** YOU" email chain with someone at zoomed. They have a pretty disapointment form letter they send back.

I wonder if this is one of the nasty ones from 10 years ago. The UVB phosphor was mixed wrong and causing way too much UVC and causing eye problems.

FYI there is only 1 UVB phosphor. Its not like there are several and they tune 2-3 of them to cover the entire UVB/UVA spectrum. They need to get the formula right so its dead on in the D3 production zone.

So the theory of the chameleon kit is actually starting to make some sense to me. As long as you place your only vine directly below the compact uvb light and don’t block it with your one little plastic plant, Zoo Med deems this adequate uvb and thereby relinquishes all responsibility for the multitude of chameleons who will develop mbd.

But look, the chameleon looks so happy and loves it. lol

Those spiral/coiled bulbs have blinded and injured many dozens if not hundreds of our members tortoises eyes by projecting a tight, uneven beam.

Just so we don’t all go on a huge zoomed tirade, remember usark. Not that it does much for us frosty canucks.

Yeah, I think that the problem was fixed within zoomed and exoterra several years ago, but some of the knockoffs still suffer from it. Also, keep in mind that the dreaded kit comes with a 5.0 13 watt, and the light I was testing was exoterra’s equivalent of about a 15% and was 23 watt.

Itd be pure Russian roulette guessing if you got a "new" one or an older, but still new one.

You just jumped up two spots in my book! Don’t have them either, wouldn’t even have face book if it wasn’t my primary way of communicating with my customers...
Ahh shucks! I only use Facebook for the chameleon enthusiasts group, but I find it terribly hard to navigate/organize compared to this forum.
