compact uvb repti glo not working in exo terra compact top

please bare in mind this is for pygmy chameleons so compact uvb is used instead of a tube uvb light...

hi ive purchased a 2.0 13w exo terra repti glo compact uvb bulb for my exo terra compact top which measures 30x9x15cm and has a max wattage of 26.

but for some reason when i screw in the uvb bulb into the compact top it doesnt work. ive tested a normal es screw bulb in the compact top and it works and ive tested the uvb bulb in another es socket and it also works. but when i put the two together nothing happens.

what gives?

Dunno, take the hood back and get a different one?

orderd it off ebay.

the hood itself does actually work. ive tested a normal es bulb in there and it lit up.

like i also mentioned i tried the compact bulb in a regular es fitting and it worked.

weird and annoying.

ive solved it.

i had to screw the bulb in really quite far even to the extent that the black plastic casing was starting to crack but it did the job.


maybe its just a shoddy build on this occassion but if anyone else experiences this they will know now.
