It was one fail after another, but in the end a serviceable habitat that Norman seems to really love! It was all worth it! The wanderlust seems to instantaneously be resolved and he no longer begs to be let out constantly. The good news is all that wanting out opened the relationship to my being allowed to handle him, and though he no longer really wants to come out, he still allows the contact. Win!
So the upgrades made here (besides the size) are the hanging plants which keep the bottom clear. The bottom is lined with a drainable perforated fake grass which was repurposed from what was supposed to be an indoor dog potty. The tray that was intended to be the base of said potty is under the screen and collects any extra moisture. It can be accessed behind the lower cabinet door. Eventually I will make a drain in it to be collected in the cabinet area below. So far the plants are absorbing most of it and I have had very little drainage to collect. Poop is now so easy! Although it does defeat the clear bottom plan, I stuck some big pieces of bark in there for climbing and because they are pretty
Other interesting additions are the miniblinds on the sides: let air through but offers privacy and keeps the cats less interested when Norman is feeling "busy". Hoping this is his last upgrade needed!
