History - I got him from screameleons they are great and arrived perfectly healthy and active

Cage Info: Screameleons ultimate set-up kit

Temperature - 65-70 degrees Basking spot is 84 degrees ( temperature gun )
Humidity - 40-60% 60% after misting
Plants - 3 fake branches 3 fake plants wrapped around them
Placement - By my window with the windows closed (no draft or excessive cold)
Location - I live in Southern California

Current Problem - He gapes while basking and sometimes when hes around in the cooler areas he still gapes. I clean the cage every single day and never missed a misting or a feeding.
I recently put 2 silkworms and 2 hornworms in the cage and he ate them up along with crickets as well (Thats when it started happening). I lightly dust to the point where the crickets are brownish white.
I cant help to wonder if the hornworms or silkworms is not agreeing with my chameleon. He hides from me so i cant really hear his breathing. Should i just get him and listen for the breathing? Thanks you for the help!

Gaping either simply means he's too hot.. Or he's too hot.

Unless he's making lots of noise when he breathes, then it could be URI.

Just either move the basking spot down or the lamps up about 2-3 inches maybe.

Dunno bout the worms though.

Have you heard any wheezing or heard a popping noise when he gapes? Or seen any extra saliva. Those can a be symptoms of a respiratory infection.

No i haven't heard any wheezing or popping noises. But maybe its too quiet to hear he's a small little dude. I don't think its the heat because he's been using that same basking spot on much warmer days and he's never gaped before.

I have a 5 month old veiled chameleon and he has a URI im fairly certain you would be able to hear it, but keep an eye out for that. I would check your temps again because that is the other most likely cause.
