Concerned!

Things I've noticed. He's only falling around bedtime. Today I watched him cruising around the branches. He seems to be very careful and decisive with claw placement. He places his rear claw right next to his front claw before he moves. It seems as if he is afraid he is going to fall. Maybe there is an issue with the branches being too slick and too large. Most of the branches have been there since day one. I added branches from a Crepe Myrtle that are smooth. I'm going to change out some branches and get him to the Vet. Think the falling is related to the branches, his weight and age. I'm really concerned about his left eye which is less round than the right eye and the falling. I noticed the eye last week and I've been just observing it. He had a full facial shed. I think he hurt his eye rubbing off shed.

I’m not as knowledgeable about various supplements as @Beman, but i believe the ReptiVite has a slightly higher D3 level. The LoD has 8,000 iu/lb and ReptiVite has (after converting from kg) 10,412 iu/lb. I want to doubt that would make any difference unless by crazy coincidence, your uvb isn’t putting out adequate levels. The uvb is supposed to be the primary source of uvb and we give supplemental D3 as a sort of insurance policy to ensure they are getting enough. Plus you said that you take him outside for natural sun.

This is correct.. Reptivite also has high phosphorus to calcium levels where repashy has no phosphorus added... Part of why I prefer repashy calcium plus LoD

I just ut Melo on his favorite tree swing. He absolutely struggled to climb. I'm certain his grip is an issue. While I'm holding him horizontally, he relaxes and loosens his grip. He is not gripping my fingers. He has totally released his grip. If I wiggle my finger, he slightly tightens his grip. He's slightly slipping back in my hand. I have gathered smaller diameter branches.

I don’t think this has anything to do with the branches. Poor buddy I’m so sorry you have to deal with the stress of this. I hope he’s going to be alright. There are so many variables with adopted Chams.

Sounds more like he is dealing with pain if he grips normally then.

@kinyonga @Beman @MissSkittles I think he has injured his claws😭. See pics. The green circle shows a bump on the claw.
I dunno babe... There is swelling in his limbs and feet... I would say bloodwork to rule out uric acid levels causing issues. This would explain his gripping issue as well. And if he is gripping looser then when he falls asleep this may very well be why he is falling.

Gee whiz! I just finished for today. I ran out of plastic netting. I added 5 smaller branches. I still need to add about 8 more towards the bottom. Also I put him on the bottom so he could practice climbing to the top. The good news is he was able to grip the honeycomb net and climb to the top 2 times, with no help. He is tuckered out. Poor guy.

hun is the uvb more on the back side above all the plants? If so you want to bring it more to the front where there are unobstructed branches. Otherwise the plants being above him will block the UVB.

His grip looks better with the smaller branches. I kept the larger branches but supplemented with the smaller branches. It's still a work in progress.

I briefly woke up today thinking about Carmelo. My still mostly asleep brain said if he has arthritis, that combined with being overweight might be making it hard for him to maintain his grip - support his weight. Then I went back to sleep. I dunno…my brain somehow came up with it while I was sleeping, so it’s either nothing or something. 🤷‍♀️
