Hello,
I understand this is no substitute for a visit to the vet. But your opinions matter, and I'd like to hear (read) them.
Here is my issue first....then I'll backfill. My female, whose been a little lethargic the last few days, and to me looks a little stressed, just passed an egg with her last stool. At first glance I prayed it was egg shaped urea....but it was oval, nice thick leathery outside shell, with yoke inside...no doubt it was an infertile egg.
Back story:
She's a 10 month old BB Ambilobe purchased from Screameleons. She is housed in a 4X2X2 with tons of foliage, proper lighting, and an automatic misting system...the works. She eats everything...wax worms, crickets, dubia etc. I dust accordingly and gut load. She has always been a pleasure...great temperament.
about 2 months or so ago, she turned a BRILLIANT pink creamsicle color....I mean gorgeous...head to toe, no gray at all. Caught me by surprise...she put my male to shame in my opinion. Anyway, this coloration lasted for a little less than a week. I took it as a sign that she was ready to breed...but wanted to wait until she got a little bigger. I precautionarily put a bucket of sand in the bottom of her cage just in case...didn't want to risk infertile eggs/becoming eggbound. I watched her closely over the next month, in case she passed eggs. She did get pretty plump, then stopped eating, and became lethargic....I was sure she was ready to lay....then out comes the most gigantic turd ever....I mean this thing was huge! And she walks around, happy, and eating normally again. So I left the bucket in there another couple weeks....nothing. I just took it out last week...now this!!!!
I put the bucket back in her cage. Its 5 gallons with about 15 inches of sand in it.
Any ideas? I'm concerned.
