Considering rescuing a chameleon - need help identifying?

I found this cham at a local reptile rescue website, I am pretty new to chams so I am not sure what type of cham this is, or if it looks healthy or not?

I would really like to adopt this little fellow but I want to see what type it is, and approx how old it is?

Any ideas?

Thanks guys!

Well, I have no experience with MBD so I'll have to defer that to someone else, but I think they can and will live with it. But, at what level of comfort will it be? I think trying to adopt and care for him would be noble but you really are setting yourself up for heartbreak when the inevitable comes sooner than you want or expect. :(

I would'nt bother getting him. You are just going to get heart broken because you are going to have a bond with him. If he dies on you, you are going to feel like it was your fault. He has a really bad case of MBD. I would stay away from that one. Just my two cents.

What a shame. I agree that this would be a tough case for you, not only becoming attached and then losing it but just being new to chameleons in general. I commend you for knowing and being honest about your limitations. This would call for an experienced keeper who would be content with making this guy comfortable for however long he lives, which could be a long time. There are stories of veileds in particular living a long time with severe cases of MBD. Hmmm...I have an ol' buddy in Phoenix who used to keep chams, might just drop him an email.

Get yourself a 3 month or older veiled or panther from a good breeder via this site and you'll be in good shape and we will just all hope this other fella finds the right home.
