well. after yesterdays dilema i am considering finding new homes for my chams... :( I really don't want to but many people on here made me realize that I am not a fit chameleon parent. I did do my research and stocked up on supplies but yesterday went backwards on me... :/ don't get me wrong I really love have chams! they don't bother my allergies but I think I shouldn't have bothered with getting my veiled's I love them to death but maybe I can try again in a few years... :/ I have done all of my research on them so don't think I just jumped in blindly and got the chams and was like oh no! but some insight would help... I have completely lost my confidence in keeping these Chameleons which I love. :/ after yesterdays dilema...

If you do some research you should be fine! Just ask for help when you need it and listen to the answers. Why are you considering giving up?

Here I am again, this time I will tell you that you should not give up. You have a couple of good veileds so go with it. I don't usually think most people should jump into delicate species before a good amount of experience. You are getting that experience now, stay with it. After you have gotten completely comfortable with veileds and there care, that you are able to balance your needs and your chams needs, then you might want to branch out to another species. If you give up now you will not be getting that experience jmo

thanks so much for the help! :) I will try to not give up! I am thankful that you are trying to help me. but thats what that post was for. to get a better grip on jacksons... I already have a good handle on my Veileds. they are quite simple... I am just scared i might screw up on it... :(

To make sure it doesn't happen keep a few superworms. Your cham may not be thrilled but if it is hungry superworms will look a lot better to him. And supers are easy to keep. jmo

agreed :) you are a great help!!!! :) thanks :) but my 3 month old male doesn't eat them it sits in the dish and escapes. so he only likes to eat crix, waxworms, and mealies on occasion.

There is not one experience cham keeper that has not made at least 1 error at sometime...nobody is perfect! In fact many will confess to many errors. I made them all the time when I got my first cham (he was a gift and I had to research fast as I had no clue I was getting him) and before I found this forum. That is how you learn.

You learn and become a better keeper through these experiences by research, asking questions and taking experienced keepers advice. Dont try and reinvent the wheel...that was my biggest challenge when starting out.

There are a few people on here who have had tough and hard experiences and made mistakes and gone on to be fantastic keepers and now share with others. Without mistakes you cant learn from them and improve.

Just be prepared and have a plan that if you run out of feeders again what plan B is. You will be surprised if he gets hungry enough what he will eat. Take Lauries advice on the superworms...what he wont touch now will look delicious to him if he is really hungry!

Stick at it....the fact that you are so concerned with your chams well being shows you are on the right path :)

Also, have you ever noticed your cham eating leaves? If so then you can also throw some lettuce and such in for him to munch on.

alrighty I will keep up with my Chameleons :) I know all my info basics that is... and its kinda tough when senior members kinda put you down for what your doing. it might not seem like it to them and they might think that they are helping but they just harsh it for the less experienced cham keepers.

I seen my youngest Darwin eating a fake plant so i offered him live pothos leaves and he ignored them i let them sit in the cage for a week and nothing my female does eat them though.. i am more worried about Darwin not eating since when I got him from PetCo he was only about a month or two old.

yeah dont give up. Its obvious you care for your animals or you wouldnt be trying to gather more information on their care. Just keep reading and if your that worried. I have found keeping a diary of my feeding amounts and lighting schedule and such to be a great tool to help me keep track of my husbandry. If you have a cham suddenly show some odd symptoms its easier to go back over what youve been doing and see if youve changed anything recently that may have affected him/her. I keep a spiral notebook near my chams cages and eaach has their own page of information. At the end of each month I review my notes and start a new page for each cham.

 how where senior members putting you down? by giving you advise on how to go get feeders?? i think you were the only one putting yourself down, making an excuse for every idea someone gave you, and then you try to call it quits just 'cus you ran out of food, really??? thats a stupid reason... what will happen when you run into a real problem??? You should really think about it... what if youre chameleon gets sick??? even if everyone gives you pointers on how to care for it will you, or will you find an excuse for it too???

you obviously don't understand. you haven't seen the way the senior members treat some of the newer memebers and me. when I or someone else asks for help some of us don't get help. we get told that we didn't do research. and if you think those are excuses? they aren't I honestly have no house key and my mom was out and today she is at work. and I am all for the help from the senior members but sometimes i see how they treat other newer members and its not nice one bit! and if my chams get sick I can bring them to the vet in town.

Despite being talked down to, a lot of the information you were given was helpful. You were pointed to two separate places that could have solved your problems.
Did you call either of the places people linked to you?
I doubt it

They were excuses.
You were freaking out on the forums because you couldn't get feeders the second you needed.
It was your mothers fault for not having a credit card (while they told you how to get a prepaid one).
You called all your friends thieves.
You blamed your brother for no longer having a house key (probably should go get another one made).

If those weren't excuses, I don't know what one is.

Stick with your Chams! You appear to be a fine owner, in which is willing to learn to succeed in taking care of them here. Let the advice of some roll quickly OFF your back and pay attention to those that DO HELP YOU! :):D

alrighty! you think that you know what really happened to my house key go out and find it for me. I don't like you at all! look most of my friends would rob my house. I have many things that they don't. and becuase my mom doesn't have a credit card its against the law?! whats wrong with you! certain people choose not to own a credit card! and if you read correctly I was saying I will check out the prepaid visa card! and i if I loan my key to my brother he has the responsibility to give it back in the condition i gave it to him.

and just for you! I don't have a cell phone no house phone either! i did have a prepaid cell phone but ran out of time! so there you go you can call or text it 605-520-8252 have fun getting no answer and saying that its unable to make the call or text!

It's your excuse, not my problem.

They'll steal because you have things?
Ya, those people wouldn't be my friends.
I have things my friends would like, they wouldn't steal if from me if they had the chance

I don't care if she has one or not.

The rest of your post isn't worth responding to.
