You can get these parts to convert your hood to T5 High Output. Its not that hard I posted links to a less expensive ballst in a previous thread. My parts came from www.millerlightingproducts.com My total cost with shipping is about $60.00. The bulb adapters I used are nonshunted because my ballst has 2 wires for each bulb end. If you go with a ballast that has 1 wire for each tube end......Still, use the nonshunted adapters just plug 2 wires into the adapter and connect those to the 1 ballast wire Here are my part #s..2- L13654 EXL They make shorter 1's too and they willwork also...they can slide in your socket cutout. 1-BB254LMT Ballast. You can see in the 1 photo of the adapters I cut away the brace in the middle so they snap in alot easier. I didnt show pics of the whole wireing I did because my hood has lots of wires & sockets. Just connect the black & white to the power..and the blues to 1 end & the reds to the other & make sure the ground wire is screwed to the ballast base.. Make sure you run the wires thru the socket hole before you insert the socket I also have polished aluminium inside my hood for better reflection but you can get high reflective tape from Todd at www.lightyourreptiles he also supplies the Arcadia bulbs you will want to use! I also added a double lamp socket to my hood so I could mount 2 Indoor Sunshine compact flouresent bulb sideways.. they wouldnt fit hanging straight down. Got those from Todd too..... Thanks Todd! My hood is now "THE BOMB!" Keep an eye out for my new cage I built too.... If you like the hood you will freak on the cage.....Solid oak with raised panel doors on the base with removable Bamboo laminate ends. Dave
OOOOOPPS... Looks likeI forgot to take a pic of the brace removal in the adapters.... You will see when you get yours what im talking about. Also because my ballast will use 2 bulbs if so desired... You just dont use the yellow wires. Also mentioned before... This conversion can be done for about 25 bucks using the ballast I listed in the other thread
