Converting Audio Cabnient into Chameleon Cage?

U could get some dark colroed or green colored laminate stick down tile and line the back and the bottom with that. Seal the corners and line the bottom of the sides and your good to go. Set up an misting system and the laminate will repel alot of water.

Can I just paint the wood using waterpoof paint, then seal it with the fiberglass tape, or is resin necessary?

I havent read the whole thread.
But my wood frame and peg-board side/backed cages are painted with zero VOV acrylic latex, and that has prooved entirely sufficient to seal the wood. Oldest home made cage is over ten years old, with no mold, fugus, warping or any other changes.

edit: all seams were sealed with paintable caulking pre-painting and on the bottom I also added silicon in areas that might have water puddles.

So the acrylic latex has been worked? Thanks for the post, that helps reassure me.

I got some more work done this weekend, used some no-voc acrylic latex paint, my fiancee picked out an awesome dark green color. I used some aquarium caulking and sealed the entire enclosure, then painted about 4 coats on. We got it all screened up besides the top since I need a different type of screen that won't melt.

Sorry for the quality, my digital camera is dead and I can't find the charging cord.

Its coming along nicely. Now what type of cham are u putting in there? That looks like a good panther cage. lol

Most likely some sort of panther, I am still researching the different types to see what I will enjoy the most, otherwise a veiled will work too.

I didn't want to make a new thread, so here is my quesiton:

I found fake vines at the dollar store today, they look exactly like the bendable vines from petsmart but have leaves/foilage attached to them, would this be safe for my enclosure?

How about 'real' tree limbs? They look good and are safe unless they have sap or rotten. Just find a tree and cut some limbs. :D

Some chameleons will try to eat plastic/fabric leaves

Be careful with dollar store finds. I got some fake plants there and the glue oozed out due to the heat from the basking lamp (the temp wasn't over 83 degrees!). The plants I bought at the pet store were more expensive, but they aren't made with glue.

Thanks for the advice, I will just look for real tree branches, they're just hard to come by in arizona, my choices are limited.

Just go to hobby lobby and get some grape vine wreaths they are great for vines. They don't fall apart and they last forever. Then go get your real plants.

Nice looking cage!

Thanks man.

I just got done adding a trim around the side windows, around the screen, makes it look 10x nicer IMO. I am working on the drainage this afternoon, probably going with my idea to use a plastic tarp around the bottom, to catch water and make it run down into the plant soil.
