Could I get this to work?

Unfortunately, probably not. Those things are extremely slippery and quite thick, as they are intended for other reptiles. The only way I could see that they could be even slightly redeemable is if they were wrapped in some kind of material or vines. A much easier and cheaper method is to simply use branches from outside. All that you need to do with them is bake them for a while to kill bacteria and such and cut them to size.

Clayton- if you read that thread you will get two ways. Either baking it or not. In this case I agree with Cainschams on that thread and I don't bake anything. I have done this for years and never have had an issue.

I even cut grape vines and use them in my enclosures and have never had an issue either. But if baking gives you peace at mind, by all means go for it

I agree with chase, I never bake anything either. I just wash everything up real good with dawn and rinse it off. I guess to each their own.
