Could I transport my Chameleon?

Im moving to Chicago, from Florida and I want to bring my baby with me! :(
giving him away would just kill me!
I want to know if there is anyway I could bring him,
I know the 24 hour car ride is out of question, he would have no lights until we stopped for the night, he would never survive.
and im INCREDIBLY NERVOUS with taking him by plane, but do you think its possible?
Has anyone done this before?

I moved 6 reptiles across the Atlantic and they were fine. Chameleons are harder tho.

You won't be driving for 24 hours solid, what another member did was take them in collapsible netting enclosures and made regular stops to check on them, overnighting at a motel. Check the previous threads by ferretinmyshoes.

You can always have him shipped to you after you get there. Leave him in with someone you trust and set up the shipping and everything then have them send him to you.

what do you think happens when they ship them? It takes at least 24 hours for a chameleon to be shipped and they are fine unless thrown around by the stupid fedex people. Your chameleon will be fine on a 24 hour car ride. keep him in his cage if you'de like that way he gets the 12/12 light intervals. I even take my chameleon on car rides occasionally on a piece of drift wood. Don't worry about it.

Yea, don't worry about it. They WILL survive one day without heat, it's not like it's mid-winter in Siberia. It will be fine! Just put them in a little travel cage or something like that and then every time you stop to take a break you can put the cage outside of the car to get a few moments of sun and heat. But honestly, they will be fine one day of discomfort.

Yeah now is a good time to do the drive, its what 100 plus in most places, so you will have ac on and if you hang one of those small net laundry bags and put him in there he will be fine. just dont put him in direct flow of air from the ac!

Ship Your Reptiles is a site sponsor. They could help you out. But 24 hours in a car with you? I wouldn't worry much at all. Just buy a small net cage and he will be fine. There are such things as cloudy and overcast days when Chameleons live in the wild, so 24 hours of no direct UV won't kill him. plus, you will be, hopefully, keeping him in the car with you - roll down a window and have the UV shine through the window!
