so i need some help. i have two veiled chameleons and ones tongue isn't sticky. i bought him like that. he was in poor condition and near death when i got him. He wouldn't eat or drink but now he eats and drinks and is a fat chameleon. But i basically have to help him eat because he can't catch his food with his tongue being unsticky. how can i fix his tongue and what can i do? my female veiled i have is in poor shape as well. she's dehydrated and won't eat . i've had her for a month and ive tried everything. i don't have the money for a vet. i've been soaking her in 50/50 water and pedialyte as well as giving her water with a syringe and force feeding her. she doesn't hang out at the bottom of the enclosure and her grip is still relatively strong. what can i do to get her feeding and drinking on her own. i also mist and use a dripper for both chameleons.

Your males tongue is shot. Odds are its missing the stick part from an injury, or the little muscle that makes it sticky is shot. So hes gonna need some help the rest of his life. You could try shallow bowl feeding with a lip:

As for your female, caterpillars are basically bags of water and are great for hydration. Silk worms are great.

You could also try offering her bright small cut up fruit since shes a veiled.

Thank you so much and yes I will def look into horn worms or silk worms for my female. And I do have a bowl in there for my male he eats like crazy. But that's okay I don't mind helping him. I usually just pull the crickets back legs off and place them in it so they can't get out and I occasionally throw in a superworm he seems to really like those. As for my female ill continue soaks and get some worms.

what is the purpose of soaking her in pedialyte?? who advised you to do this?

Basically unflavored pedialyte contains a ton of electrolytes and vitamins not only for a baby but a chameleon can drink it or be soaked in 50/50 water and pedialyte. You just put them in for about 15 min and make sure there vent is submerged and it will be absorbed through there it replenishes vitamins need as well as hydrates them. A friend of mine who goes to vet school recommended it as well as it's kinda all over the Internet as well. Thats my sources. And it worked for my male when he was real bad off
