Couple of questions from a newby

I'm looking to purchase a tropical chameleon, I've researched all the things I need thoughly, I'm set on the fact that I'm going to build a cage with my father for my future little friends. Could anyone post pics of their setups?

Another question is, whats a good easy cheap way to make my own dripper for them, without having to spend the extra money on a brand name dripper. If you think its best to BUY a dripper, which do you guys recommend?

You can get the "big dripper" for 7$.

Count on spending a lot of money, chameleon keeping is not a cheap hobby. I recently built 2 cages for my new chams and all of the materials/lights/misting system/dripper/plants/drains/stands/feeders/etc cost me nearly 500$ before even buying the animals.

Once again, let me reiterate myself, chameleon keeping is not cheap.

Also, I notice you say "A" cage for future "friend(s)"

Chameleons are not social animals. Some species can do okay together, but your best bet is to just house them separately.

Think this choice on chameleon ownership through thoroughly, it is not a small one.

What kind of cham do you want to get?

You should get either the big or little dripper. they can be around $7-$11. But you are going to have to spend a lot of money on your cham. They have a lot of needs to be met and you have to meet them. It is also a lot of work. You can't just put them in the cage and leave them, theres many things you have to do to keep them happy and healthy.

Use the SEARCH feature at the top of the home page to see cage setups.

Take any plastic container, poke a 1/4 inch hole in the bottom edge, get 1/4 inch tube and a valve from a pet store, and you have a dripper. You will need to caulk the hole if you are sloppy in your drilling, but if you are careful, it will not leak.

Unless you have spent many hours researching, thoroughly is still ahead of you my friend!:D

Best of building!

Nick
