Couple Of Questions

I'm planning on getting a custom made 26w 42l and 72h enclosure. For lighting I was thinking one basking light along with a 24" repti sun 5.0. Now is this enough lighting? As you can tell from the height it's gonna be decently tall and I plan to have a good amount of live plants in there. So what do you guys think? Also I would VERY much like to get a schefflera in there but I'm getting a veiled and I've read they can be quite the plant eaters, so I'm a bit concerned with schefflera being slightly toxic and all. My plant list: dracaena, pothos, n schefflera. What do you guys think bout all this? Sorry for the long list, just that this is gonna be my first Cham and I wanna go all out. Thanks!:)

That plant will be totally fine. It is safe for veiled chameleons to eat. So are the rest.

That amount of light might be okay but you may want another light like a plant light which helps plants grow and adds very little heat. It'll help keep your plants alive

Hello and welcome !:)
Glad you have done some research:)

What age do you plan on getting? That cage would be perfect for a adult, but a baby would have a hard time finding food, and there is a risk of falling. That being said, you can make it work, many people have had success with using a larger enclosure using a feed cup and proper hydration methods.

Lighting- that will work great! A 75w house bulb will work wonders so I wouldn't worry about getting a "reptile heating bulb"

Plants- Make sure you re plant all your plants in a organic soil with no fertilizers. Also with the dracaena make sure its not a sub species of the plant , some of the plants of the family are safe others are not.

This helped me out tons, if you have any questions feel free to ask! https://www.chameleonforums.com/blo...-keepers-young-veiled-panther-chameleons.html

Thanks for all the info! Now I plan the get something sub adultish, and of course I'll replace the soil and place some large stones over it. I would like to use a basking lamp, just cause my basement can become slightly chilly. If you could recommend one that be great!!! (Lighting down there is also not the best).

I have read all species of dracaena are fine, is sub species like related family?
Sorry just a bit confused on that part.
Thanks!

Oh wait! I almost forgot! I've been wondering, when I mist and use a cup dropper system what should the temp of the water be?

My enclosure is about the same 24"x36"x72". From experience, I can tell you that it won't be enough light, just from a comfort and viewing perspective. I have one 24" linear UVB bulb that I am going to upgrade to a 36" with the next bulb replacement. I have one basking spot light and a second plant growth light on the other side of the cage. Without the second lamp, it's very dark, particularly if it is not next to a window (my cage is next to the deck door, so there is lots of ambient light as well), and the plants don't do well.

Just a thought for you.

Thanks for the advise, I think I may go with two repti sun 5.0 24inch, not sure if that's too much, do you think I would still require a basking light by then?
