Couple questions

Good morning all,
As I have been reading threads I've came across a two questions I have.

First- how big does a veiled get diameter wise? What about a panther? Body and head. I am going to see a friends bearded dragon today and want to visualize the size difference.

Second- ok this question is random. What is their poop like; bird, ferret, dog, rabbit? Lol and is it all over the place or do they tend to go at the bottom or in one spot? I am starting to design my enclosure and if they go in a certain area I will try to design something for ease of cleaning.

I'm sure I will have more questions later but that's it for now.

I will leave the size questions to the experts in those species. I can answer the poop question.:) There is no real way to know what your cham will do poop wise and no way in the world you can guess ahead where they might chose to go. Most of mine pick a spot and that is the bathroom. I do have one who will always chose the middle part of a very dense tree. That adds nicely to clean up. lol

Veileds and panthers are about the same size. Sometimes someone will have a really big one of either species or a really small one.....they are kind of like people come in all different sizes and shapes.:D On average measure about 6 to 8 inches from the tip of their nose to their vent (base of their tail) and their tail can be another 6 to 8 inches. An adult would weigh on average 140 to 250 grams. My veiled Sage is what I consider a good size boy and he weighs 198 grams.

I think their poop is easy to clean up. I clean it as soon as it falls with a wet paper towel and when young they poop often at least once a day. As adults they eat less and poop less maybe 3 times a week. Most of my guys have always preferred to go in the same spot but I would count on it 100%.

There's a really good thread here with poop pictures. I'll see if I can find it for you.

That is very true. I figured there was no way to determine this but I didn't know if they were more like birds who go wherever they go or if some of them actually are "tidy" and don't want to walk around in it. :p

I think its funny how there is a thread with poop pictures :p but hey its apart of life and we are all curious!! Thank you for the link.

I know there is no set standard for anything. And I know my friends bearded dragon will lay more flat then a chameleon would but just figured I can get a general size comparison while I am over there today.

Diameter wise it changes they are like a slinky ,when hunting or on the move they stretch out and get real skinny , but when at rest they bunch up and get fat like a little piggy , and when basking they can look flat like a frying pan, I have a picture of mine basking flat on the ground and he looks like somebody ran him over with a car. They change shape as much as they change color.

Most of my males, veil and panther, poop about the same size as a chihuahua, or at least seems like it. Mostly always one piece and easily picked up.
