Crazy receptive females

Most people here own female chameleons. Well i thought i'd hare how stressful it can be when they are receptive. Clair has escaped my room 30+ times(when i leave the door open for 3mins she out and about) lucky she very easy to find. she has now trampled 4+ trees in the FR so when this is over i have to buy new trees. she actually broke sturdy trees and tore leaves off of them untill they died  she climb all over my room ALLDAY and i have to be very careful when i open the door or i might hit her with it. she knows that the door is out(smart girl!) Clair is a veiled chameleon. chloe(the hoe) doesnt usually wander. if she does its for a short amount of time and then she returns to her vines. clair will have a daily walkover and then bask and drink the rest of the day. but while shes receptive she becomes totally nuts!

anyways, i havent seen any posts on this for people or the fact that they will distroy trees so those will have to be replaced sometimes(they were healthy and strong before she tore them apart)

im shure ya'll have some crzy female stories aswell so feel free to post :)

nope lol. i have 3 females. not a single one does anything like that. they all love there trees. even the smaller trees that arnt totally developed to the point of strong branches. but im sure someone out there has one like that. it cant be just you

I don't free range but Yes all my females are crazy when receptive. They are all over their cages from top to bottom looking for a way out, and any time you open the door out they come. Also when on their outdoor trees they are a full time job because the will NOT stay in any tree for long...then off they go.

maybe thats what is goin on with my cham hahaha maybe she is fianlly gettin old enough to want a man cham lol. Anytime i open her cage door she runs to it and tries to escape, most of the time i just pick her up and take her outside. :D

My females do roam when they are looking for a place to lay those eggs. I have never had one to tear up a tree.

Well mine tries to escape too. I'm getting her a wayy bigger cage should be here soon and shell be way more happier:) sounds like you've just got a very adventurous cham. At first mine just basked all the time which I figured females did more than the males but it doesn't seem this way now.

Do they become receptive even if there are no males in the house? I'm getting a female panther next week and want to be prepared!

I knew they still laid eggs, got my bin ready, but didn't realise they also behaved like they belong on Jersey Shore!

Well you know what happened when my female veiled became receptive... ;)

crawled under two closed doors to hang out with my male....

38 eggs due in December!

Good information... I fear my 5,6month female may have seen the new male that I brought in the other day. I tried to make sure they didn't see each other, but as of the day after she has been restless and sits by the cage door doing her begging thing even after I fed her and she clears the feeder. She has not hit the full peach color yet but has been a bit darker and showing alot of orange in the gullet and across her bars.

LOL yeah well warning everyone! they climb under doors! be prepared to buy more. Camimom has a clutch of eggs becuz of her crazy girl. :p

lucky i dont have any boys for her to find:D

and i guess no one else has a female mess up and kill her trees? well it might just be mine. she likes getting new thing and she might just do it becuz she knows i'll get her more. little brat

lol my has been roaming her cage like crazy, I've started thinking maybe she has eggs and want to lay, but she is under 6 months old... Now I get it, she just want a handsome boy ;)

my female is totally opposit

Mine anticipates that male who lives next door(out of sight) that hes going to come in and get her lol. Of course this is mostly when shes not receptive. when she is receptive she kinda has a look, like oh geez and sits on her branch in her nice pink colors and once in a while if i bring him out, shell go as far as facing herself towards him as if to say ok lets do this but make it quick lol. My male on the other hand is the crazed one. He will literally jumps on me to get out of the cage in hopes ill bring him over to her. And since I don't do that her now learned to just jump on the cage door and crawl around the side to try and get to her. These chams really have personalities. They are unbelievable. Maybe you should get a male to calm her down, maybe if she knew there was one around, she will not want so bad lol. If she runs to his cage, then you got a problem lol.
