Cricket leg poking through mouth :(

Woke up this morning to my Jackson having a cricket leg poking out through the skin near the bottom of his mouth. It wasn't there last night. I can only imagine that it's poked through from the inside. Looks like he's going to the vet tomorrow, they're closed today, or I'd get him in today. :( It can not be comfortable. I'd try to remove it, but I'm scared that it may be attached to a larger piece of the leg on the other side. I'll get a picture in a little bit. I fed him a super worm (his favorite treat) to see if he could eat, and to try to see in his mouth. He ate no problem, but I couldn't get a good look in his mouth. Nasty crickets. :(

Ouch. You're sure it's not just stuck to the skin? I would try to touch it and see if it comes loose... Otherwise a vet visit is in order. Poor little guy.

It's definitely through the skin. :( Poor baby. There is a vet in town that has Sunday hours, but it's not my cham experienced vet, so I'm a little leery of taking him there. It might be worth it to wait a day. I'm going to call them, and see if they have any experience.

They might at least be able to extract it and give you some topical cream to protect from infection from the exterior. Not sure if this warrants a round of prophylactic antibiotics, but maybe someone could jump in with advise or it could wait until you can get to your regular vet.

My biggest worry is that they might do more harm than good, but it won't hurt to call. This should be simple, right? Man, I wish my vet was in today. Why does the weird stuff always happen on off hours?

Sorry it's a bad pic, but my camera sucks and it makes him nervous.

I dont think a cricket leg is going to make it through the skin especially a hinged leg. You can still take him to a vet but its just a fluke he got a cricket leg right there. I could be wrong but i dont see any trauma.

I hope so, it was so weird. Every time he swallowed or moved it would move with the skin. I just don't understand how the heck it got there. It wasn't dangling like it would if it was just stuck on there with cricket guts.

It's most likely not poking through him.. I've seen Monty have cricket legs dangling from his mouth hundreds of times
