Im getting my baby from kammers tomorrow and they said to feed 1/4inch crickets but I only had time to go to petco and all they had was 1/2inch crickets. Will they be too big for him? Do you measure the cricket lengthwise or by girth?

Lengthwise, is your new Cham about 2 months or so?
Call around, SD has to have lots of places that sell crix.
When he/ she arrives you will see that 1/2 might be too large.
General rule of thumb, not greater than the distance between the eyes is the length you should feed

Hes like 2 and a half months not sure of the actual hatch day. Theres like half that are 1/4in but none are bigger then a 1/2in. I can make it out to LLL but it won't be until thursday. Would it be bad for him to eat the 1/2 in or will he just maybe not want to because they might intimidate him? they still look pretty damn small

I would judge by the distance between the eyes, if they are too big he might not be able to get it down

Thanks Suzi I will make sure to measure the space between his eyes right when he arrives to make sure.

i would just wait until your cham comes in, and feed the bigger of the crickets first (as long as they arent too big)...its cheaper to buy in bulk though...you will save a lot of money in the long run

Did you actually measure the small crickets or did a Petco person say they were 1/2 inch? My experience with Petco is that they have "small" and "large" and small might be just above pinhead to 1/2 inch and large might be 1/2 inch to full grown.

I'm sure that "small" Petco crickets will be fine.

You are correct mine only had SMALL and LARGE bags so when I got home I measured and the biggest ones are 1/2 inch with maybe half being 1/4
