Cricket thug?

If you find a cricket on the floor of your abode.. just hopping along or lets say that one escapes while you're trying to feed it to your reps.. DO you kill it or catch it?

I kill them, I'm so sick of trying to catch those hippity little bastards! A quick jab or stomp is so much easier than delicately trying to catch them.

I crush them. Crickets scare me silly. They escape the feeder cup, they are sentenced to death via my shoe.

Worms I'll actually pick up. Don't want beetles running around in my house.

You can use sticky traps that are meant for mice or you can set up a tall container with food in the bottom of it and a long "y" shaped stick than hangs over the edge of the container so that the crickets will fall/jump into the container and not be able to get back out.

I try not to let any loose. But one got out the other day and i almost trew my back out trying to catch this thing. Lesson learned .

Crush time !!!!

It's just not worth it to chase the little f'ers around! Crickets have brought out a mean streak in me! No mercy!

i usually just flush them. i dont like putting them back in the bins because God and the cricket only knew where it's been and gotten into.

I have no choice. my 2 cats know what I am getting out of the bin TOYS!!! so if one escapes they have about 1 second to get away from them. It has always been FAIL on the cricket end :

Oh I'm with you!!!! Mush, stomp, whatever They can't be loose in my room or I will scream until I find the damn thing making that noise!! No runaways!! and I'm not gonna dance around catching the damn thing......

Depends. You ALWAYS have that one (What I like to call) jumper. The hyper one out the the bunch that just doesn't stop damn jumping. If one of those escapes, it can say hello to the bottom of my shoe. So damn annoying.

i let em do their thing when they get out
they dont have long to live when the dogs & cats seem to like them more then my chameleons sometimes, i have such weird animals.....they LOVE cricket snacks they will actually sit and watch and beg for them to get out lol i had my cricket tank on the floor once....and my dog LOVES carrots and fruits and veggies more then meat....oh he had a feild day when he knocked it over letting the screen come off the top with a ton of crickets running around.

I don't worry about them. My great Dane enjoys hunting them down, jumping on them and then eating them.

Wow...way to reboot an old thread...

I catch them and set them free....I do tell them that they can fly and then toss them as far away from the house as I can. I assume they live because it seems really hard to kill them (unless there are ants...or water...ants can kill them in nano seconds and it seems like they can't resist the urge to drown themselves in water).

I'm too mean to kill them. Each cricket costs money, however if the dog catches them, that's a different story.:D

We get our house sprayed for bugs(except the cham room) so if one gets out, I don't take any chances having him getting into poision and then being fed to Loki. I don't like squishing bugs though, so if I happen to find it alive(they are usually dead from the bug spray) I'll let it go outside lol

So what do you do with them then? I'm so mean I put them back in the cricket bin. I have very few escapees though, I can usually remember how long it was since it escaped. It can't hurt too much if occasionally that cricket is the one that gets fed to a lizard the next day. I think it's the Scottish and Yorkshire in me...........:D

Lol, ants or water :D

I leave 'em for the cats...who are laying in wait. I've even purposely tossed a couple that had grown too large for the cham to the cats.

Ugh, I had an incident just last weekend where several hundred crickets got loose in our house... It *would* have been a total nightmare, but we went to Home Depot to see what options we had, and the associate told us that our best option was to set out glue traps. Sure enough, I closed off the room they were loose in (stuffed towels under the doors), set out a dozen glue traps, and two days later, they were all dead. It was a huge relief because that could have been a disaster.

i normally try to catch them and stick them back in my bin. favorite time this happened was when i snagged it mid-jump with a swiping crane blow from the right. my ninja skills were completed that day....

worst time i found one though was at 3am, i had to get up and use the bathroom. jumped onto my foot and scared the crap outta me :(
