The trouble with the prepackaged cubes for crickets is that from the moment you open them, they are exposed to bacteria and other airborne/contact spread nasties. A moist food container kept at room temperature is the perfect place for bacterial growth.
Your best choice is fresh fruits and veggies. They will provide all the water your crickets need. Orange slices are great for this.

how are the crystals that you add water too? Good or bad? If bad what do you recommend?

It would help. I'm not sure what the shelf life of those cubes is, but I probably wouldn't use them after a month, even in the fridge.
