I was just curious what people's thoughts were I have one panther chameleon and I buy crickets at 500 count and like anyone struggle to keep them alive housed feed etc. I was just curious on what other people did. You buy dozen or two from a pet store or order in bulk ? I do have super worms for a treat that helps
Thank JP

I buy in bulk if they are less than 18 months old. At that stage they are eating over a dozen a day, hell in their prime they might down 3 dozen a day if the are around 250-300grams. Once they are an adult mine dont each much more than a dozen a week per cham.

I just get the pets store ones after that if they are not banded crickets. Banded might work for an adult jacksons, but its barely a snack for a veiled/panther. Believe it or not, but supers have less chitin/shell than crickets.

I got a beardy and a oust chameleon right now. They get dubias and silk worms for 2 months in the summer, and dubias and supers in the winter. They might get a snack from time to time if i see one at a show.

Mine is just over 5 months, and he will eat as much as I put in there. He's eating about 20-25 Crickets/dubias a day. For me it has been super beneficial buying in bulk.

Buying in bulk is always cheaper. If you are having trouble keeping them alive I'd suggest starting a roach colony.

For those of you that buy in bulk, do you just keep them in a tote like a roach colony? I just started a dubia colony but I found a guy here in town that has quality crickets and good prices when bought in bulk. I thought about getting away from crickets but I been trying to research to see if its worth it.

I bought 500 small crickets and kept them in one of the large Cricket keepers. They do just fine with half an egg carton tray and plenty of gutload/water crystals. Not sure what size you use but probably not big enough for larger crickets. I would move them to a tub for medium-large crickets for sure, similar to a roach colony.
