But you didn't mention the cricket herpes! You can't make a statement and not cover all the bases.Any breed of cricket besides the domestic American cricket is resistant to the cricket virus found in the US. The cricket paralysis virus in the US only affects that breed at the moment. However the one found in Australia I think is the one that affects multiple breeds, either that or its the one in the UK.
I think I have these too (Gryllus Assimilis), I hated crickets before but these guys I love!I get mine from eBay, 500 brown crickets for $15 to $16, throw them in a 10 gallon fish and top it with a screen.
I toss in veggies and fruits, and there's a little water tray with a sponge. They are good to the last drop!
Yeah, they are pretty quiet, and cannot jump very high. They seem slow too. But if the other site sells banded for the same price, and everyone suggests them, then I might as well switch, or at least try them. I don't want american cricket venereal disease.I think I have these too (Gryllus Assimilis), I hated crickets before but these guys I love!
Almost no sound, they are slow compared to other crickets and also much more meaty...
I've bought em in bulk and keep em in a 14" x 8" x10" container stacked for 80% with egg crates.
I feed them any fruits we have in the house, spinach, argula, alfalfa, different kinds of salad (I buy it washed and then wash it again myself), some of the dubia dry food and also put some Repashy superload in there.
I have almost no die off so far and I have them in the container for almost a month now...
The only problem is that they are no longer size 6 and are becoming to big for my cham... I need a bigger chameleon
