Crickets keep dying.

I started buying from Fluckers 100 shipped to my house for around 9.00 every two weeks. Way more convenient than having to drive to petco every few days and the crickets are much healthier! I am going to try dubias again since its not so hot out maybe they will be alive when they get here.

Trick to keeping healthy crix is constant removal of poop. The methane is what kills them, if not the virus. It can also lead to an allergy for you after long term exposure. The cleaner you keep them, the better for them and you. You need to find a dealer you trust. It may take buying from several stores before you find some. Ask each store whose they sell and try and find a mom and pop pet store. I have been using the same supplier since 1985. I might get 3 a day die in 1,000 lots.

Most of y'all are only buying hundreds so not sure how much it applies but I've been getting 3K crickets a time for $60 delivered from rainbow. They have a very high survival rate and usually last me 2-3 weeks. I've failed at breeding them so far but keeping them alive hasn't been much of an issue. Anyone else use dermestid beetle larvae in their bins? I have them with my crickets and roaches, they definitely keep things cleaner, which I think is key to keeping crickets alive.

The beetles are in about 75% of the boxes I get. They clean up nicely. I have noticed that spiders usually accompany them though. Coincidence?
100's???? Try 6,000 crickets in 5 days.....

I meant the op and other posters talking about buying feeders at petco, you've got your hands full! I haven't noticed the spiders maybe related to the source?

Are they banded or the old brown crickets?

I saw on Facebook where Eric Adrignola has been having an issue with the old brown ones. I think the cricket virus is still messing with them. Do you ever notice them laying there but their legs are still moving?

Chase
I have the same problem and when I move them they still move their legs a bit. What is the cricket virus you mentioned? Is there any way to stop this?

Thanks for the advice ! It's weird because I just buy them from petco like 30 at a time which I have to go every couple of days, but until recently there would be none that died . Now i buy them and I only give him like 10 and the next day they are all dead. It's happened like 3 or 4 times in a row. Now
Petco can get preety expensive with feeders and they don't look too good either. You should find a reptile shop or order them online. I can get 80 crickets for $4 at a reptile store; petco will charge me $14. LLLReptile is my local shop, but I know they ship all sorts of feeders.
