Critique My Setup

Lol, I actually went back and fourth for a while trying to decide what to do about branches, in the end I didn't take branches from my yard because for a few reasons. All we have is pine trees, we live in an association and I didn't want to get in any hot water with them for cutting the trees, and mostly, I have horrible tree pollen allergies and I was worried about baking the branches in my house (I really don't know if this is a legitimate concern or just me being paranoid, but didn't want to take any chances!). And in all honestly it's been cold and windy out and I was too lazy to go elsewhere to look :)

I have heard that conifers like pine or cedar are to be avoided because of the oils that can cause irritation to the eyes and they are fragrant so might cause breathing issues. Fruit trees are always good and I have been using crepe myrtle for years with no ill effects. I have also used oak and a few others that i see around the neighbor hood if i don't get them from my own yard. If there are concerns for mites or ants or spiders you can always bake them in the oven for 10 minutes at 300F.

only thing i can really say about your cage is that if your planning on putting the crickets on that cup there not going to be there for long, i found that using a half gallon milk jug or grape juice container with a hole only in the front works fine as long as you leave a good 2in on the front top and bottom or else the crickets just jump right off the cup lol. Also if u end up using my method just make sure u get a container that is not see through

where did you get...

Where did you get the bottom part of your cage? It looks like a stand of some-sort that can act like a drainage system. I am moving up to a bigger cage and mist system - but need a drainage solution!!

Thanks so much!

It looks great!
