cup feeding

Can anyone explain how i cup-feed with crickets? i usually let them loose in the cage for the cham to catch itsself but i wanna learn new things hehe

you get any deli cup, cut a hole big enough for a twist tie and tie the cup in the chameleons cage where it accesible for it.

its fine, i built a screen enclosure cage and i really need to switch my cham over to that cage but i need to start cup-feeding since the crickets hope right threw the screen holes. i will buy a 2nd layer of screen to stop them from escaping

I use coffee mugs, cereal bowls and the like. If the cup is big enough to let the insect move around a bit, the chameleon will more interested in the food.

i use a little clear plastic cup and just set it in my cage on top of leaves and branches., if your afraid the crickets can jump out, try break the crickets legs or pulling them off. yes i know kinda of morbid but it works. lol

Ive never had any jump out. I also tilt mine so the cham gets a better view and this kinda throws them all together so they are constantly moving. I use a deli cup that my insects came in from the online shipment.

ACTUALLY! if you put packaging tape or just normal ape other than electrica or duct tape or the inside of the cup they cannot climb on it, and my large crickets are either dumber than yours and dont jump out or they know theyll get eatin anyways, however i use the tape more and to me its more effective

I have used plastic beer cups, cut in half beer cups with a paperclip to stick through mesh, but my favorite is a small round glass. Crickets don't jump out and worms can't crawl out and it is easy to stick in the dishwasher every night.

Deli cups with bottom cut out and replace with screen. Adults can jump out but if you put a piece of vegetable in it will usually keep them in. The screen on the bottom is for dusting as well as for drainage.

You dont find the chameleons try to shoot their tongue throught the see-through glass sides?

I havent had that issue with the plastic deli cups but they arent as shiny and clear as glass would be. Im assuming then you place the containers at the bottom of the cage or on a stand or something? Cant imagine they would be able to hang with the weight?

I have the glasses placed in the plants or under a branch so they bend over to shoot. My male with the bad eyesight gets his glass tipped a little so he has a clear shoot. I hope that I won't have to hand feed him one day. Seems like his eyesight isn't really good. DAMN THOSE COMPACT BULBS! Sorry, but I do want to make the point well stated.

I hang/install two or three feeding cups within each cage. I dont use flimsy screen cages - one of the benefits of using a solid wood frame cage is that you can hang anything anywhere.

nah, that should be fine. thats about what Mine is too. Just watch and if you see that your cham is having issues with height, then remove it, but the tongue is quite a long and amazing thing. Let us know how it goes!

my chameleon is very young, about 2 months (he's 3.5") I cup feed him with 1/4" crickets. They are in a plastic bottle only about 1" deep. My chameleon can't figure it out. He keeps hitting the side of the cup. Any ideas?

Use an Opaque (not see through) cup.
