Cup feeding

Hello everyone!
I would like to learn trick to make my new baby panther chameleon eat from a cup. I left a cup with a few cricket under his sight but he doesn't do much, he stares at the bugs but doesn't eat them. On the other hand if the crickets are free in the cage, he likes to chase them and he does eat them.
Is it true that crickets tend to climb towards the light or the heat?
So, they should climb towards the top of the cage where the chameleon is basking?
Thanks for your help.

The crickets climb to the top because they want to escape but yes a lot of them will climb up your plants and make themselves easy targets for your chameleon.

Some chameleons just won't eat out of a cup...but don't give up. The more the insect moves or flys the more a chameleon wants to eat it. You can condition your chameleon to recognize the cup as a food bowl. Use an opaque cup that it can easily spot from it's favorite perch. Crickets do tend to gather close to the basking lamp for the heat.

Unless you really want to you can free range your feeders I do. I think it helps with the chameleons muscles and Mine does great with free reanging. I tend to hand feed on or two of whatever I feeding and then free range the rest and most of the time hell finish them within the hour

Use a nice large container, not an actual cup. Mine wont eat out of small little cups ( I wouldn't either if I was a chameleon!) Or you can try the milk carton feeder. I try to free range or hand feed most food items and only use feeding containers every now and then.

Don't get frustrated my baby took FOREVER to learn to cupfeed. I moved my feeder cup all over the enclosure trying to get her attention finally I found a spot by her basking area where she finds them. Also she won't eat out of it in front of me I guess she feels vulnerable because she has to climb down in the cup a little. My baby also spent a long time at first just staring down into the cup trying to figure it out but she got it and I'm sure yours will too.

mine was feeding from the cup non stop.....a week ago he stopped feeding from the cup as much as before.....now i put the silkies on the plant inside his cage and he just hunts them down...
