Cyrus has very high blood glucose...?

Cyrus just had a rectal prolapse sutured and bloodwork done. Everything came back fine except that his BG was thru the roof - 1200+. I can find no reference to diabetes in chameleons including a thread when apparently his numbers came back high (but not nearly so) back in 2007 https://www.chameleonforums.com/diabetes-chameleons-2641/.

He has had excessive thirst for a while and I was afraid he was in the beginnings of renal failure (he is 4 1/2) but BW showed that to be OK. I had him on Pedialyte and wonder if that may have spiked it (see in previous thread that was a thought as well).

So I am wondering, once again, if anyone has any ideas about what would cause a chameleon to have such high numbers. My vet had the lab run it twice because he was so surprised at the number himself.

As for setup, I have had Cyrus since he was 2 months old and anyone can look up his history here - he has neurological issues so his setup has been modified accordingly but for the most part lives a "normal" chameleon life. He is now in temporary smaller cage which I put him in when I was cleaning out his regular cage but have now opted to keep him in for a while in order to monitor him thru the prolapse process (he goes in next Thursday to have the sutures removed.

Any thoughts from vets appreciated, too!!

thanks,
lele & Cyrus
