Daikon

Aloha,
Does anyone know if it is ok to gutload crickets with Daikon greens (tops) and radish tops along with the other fruits and veggies I feed?

Beth:)

My guess would be the crickets wouldn't much like it - members of the cabbage family, including daikon and radish, produce chemicals known as glucosinolates as part of their anti-insect defense mechanism - insects that feed on these plants are usually ones that have adapted over time to specialize on such plants and handle the chemicals. I don't know what (if any) the effects on the chameleon would be - very high doses of glucosinolates can induce goiter in humans, but there is also evidence that they're anti-cancer (in humans) - and no research that I know of in reptiles. The cham probably wouldn't be taking in bioactive doses; if it were me, I'd use little, if any, as gutload.

lol diakon is the most smelly thing in the world lol but i wouldnt recommend it i dont think there is as much nutrients as other more general gut loads
