Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care? Nosy Faly, Male, about 5 months, I've had him for about 3 days
Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon? I've handled him one time, just to move him out so I could adjust some things inside his cage
Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders? I feed him only crickets for now, as I am waiting on a few orders of silkworm eggs. I'm also looking into getting permits to raise stick bugs, mantids, roaches. If I can't do it, I'll be ordering as wide a variety of feeders as I can. I made my own gutload loosely based on sandrachameleons blog. Pretty much the same as hers, but with a few things left out. I take out 7-8 crickets at night, put them in a seperate container with dry/wet gutload, then feed them off to him in the morning.
Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule? I currently have rep-cal w/ d3 and .. I cannot remember the brand name, but I also have a multivitamin supp. I have not yet dusted any crickets.Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking? My monsoon mists every 2 hours for about 20 sec. I mist the cage myself 3-4 times with a spray bottle, for about 2 mins each time. I also pour about 100 ml of water into the dripper twice a day
Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites? Brown part of his poop looked like a home made sausage .. hard to explain. Brown, looked like it was in a clear plastic 'casing'. White part was WHITE but it had orange 'stuff' on it. I'm thinking dehydration, but how?!
History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you. I'm unsure of his history. I ordered him from Trinity Chameleons/chameleon nation.
Cage Info:
Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions? Uhg I'm unsure of the exact dimensions. 16x16x24? It's all screen, not mesh
Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule? 12/12 rotation. I have 2 bulbs: UVB - exo-terra 10.0 18" in a random fish tank fixture (hope this is okay) Daylight - exo-terra 75w basking light. I may switch this out for a 100w
Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps? I use an exo-terra thermometer (I HATE this brand, but it's the only one I can find ..). It's corded, so I can move it around the cage without a problem. Temp in basking area is 80-85 when dry, but it drops to 70 when the mister goes off. This is why I will be upgrading to a larger bulb, since the mister runs frequently. (I tested the rotation, and the water does in fact dry up before it mists again). Temp in the lower areas is 70-75
Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity? I use an analog hygrometer(?), Flukers brand. I use a warm mist humidifier under his tank to keep the humidity up in the room. Its 50% - 90% (jumps to 90 after a mist)
Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind? The only live plant in there is a ficus.
Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor? The top of the cage is @ eye level for me, so about 5 feet 3 inches from the floor (I'm short, shut up). It is in the center of the room, as far as it can be from a window or vent.
Location - Where are you geographically located? Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Current Problem - The current problem you are concerned about.
He's been mostly dark/black in color starting the morning after I got him. He has lightened up off and on, but its only for a short while, then he's dark again. A few times he pulled a 'two face'. One half was bright green/blueish and the other side was DARK brown (dark brown side was NOT facing the light). I'm just curious what this could mean ... these dudes are fascinating in that I believe they can communicate w/ their colors, so I still need to learn what he's trying to tell me Thanks folks
