Dark cricket = gut loaded?

I was playing around with my crickets as all of us must do, and it got me wondering...

Does the cricket's color have anything to do with how much they ate? I've noticed that some crickets, particularly in the gut, are lighter in color than others. Are the dark ones more gut loaded than their lighter friends?

Thanks wise people!

Like black crickets? Some people on here said in a thread long long ago that the darker ones were dark because of dehydration and cold temps? Or is there a relevence to the cricket size? The smaller crickets are often times lighter colored.

Nope

Actually, the color of the crickets show when they are going to shed. Lighter crickets have just shed their skin, while darker crickets are just about to. It has nothing to do with temperature, food, etc. Nothing to worry about!

Not that I have done any scientific research on this subject. Although, I have noticed in the past, that once the dark crickets molt they are light again. I have also noticed crickets left in colder temps.with little water or food seemed to turn black.

The molting part is what I was talking about :)
