Ok so my cham is 3-4 months old and my temp/humid is all good.. its fecal is normal and its eating like a champ now!

But when ever my cham hangs out in the open like when hes on these brown vines i have he turns like a brownish greenish color but when he's behind these green vines i have he turns LIGHT green color and from what ive read being dark could mean he's sick... i personally think i need to add more coverage in the cage because i think its from him seeing me look at him...

I can post a pic if needed but i pretty much summed it up.

Thanks Devin.

Thanks Devin.

The dark color could be his basking color. He may be darkening up to absorb the heat from the basking lamp. When he is hiding no need to warm up so he goes light green.

what is the exact basking temp and ambient temp of the cage?

I think you nailed it lol... thanks buddy! other idea's are appreciated although i think you pretty much just made me feel a 100 times better :D

i was told to keep the basking temps for his age anywhere from 80-90F
and the bottom-mid tank temp is around 74F+ and humidity is anywhere from 50-70

If you are still curious about the coverage int he cage , post a pic and you can get some good advise from everyone on the forum.

This is a veiled right ? Temps sound good for a youngster. In a couple months you can raise the temps in the basing area to 90-95

ok well here are some pics of the set-up anyways :D
The waterfall is no longer in there i replaced it with a Hibiscus plant.

Just some quich notes on your enclosure that will help you out. May be a pain in the butt, but will help in the long run.

~Most importantly... In order to provide the proper hydration for your cham you are going to be doing a lot of misting...The kind of misting that should make that substrate at the bottom a mucky, soppy mess, and if your current misting doesn't cause that substrate to become a mess...Then you are probably not misting enough. You are also risking your cham mistakenly ingesting some of it, which can cause impaction issues. The best substrate for a cham cage is nothing at all. Easy to clean and sanitize, and doesn't become a total mess with all the misting that will be done.

~You were right about the coverage. The majoriy of the cage should be dense with foliage to climb and hide in.

~I would recommend live plants... as Veileds love to chew on their plants, not to mention they really help in keeping the humidity in line.

Good Luck,

~Joe

I agree with Joe. Nothing needs to be on the bottom. I would also definitely add a live plant. Maybe a umbrella or a small ficus.

One other thing is the waterfall. You should consider getting rid of that as well. Hard to clean and a haven for bacteria. Chams don't usually drink from them anyway.

The plant will do the same for humidity as the waterfall.

Is the rep-cal with D3 the only sup you use? I see it on top of the cage.

Ok im sorry i wasn't as clear as i shoulda been.. I have the 3 supplements from repcal the crap on the bottom i took all of it out and the waterfall is also gone...
