My oldest daughter called me the other day to let me know she was accepted into Cornell's vet school. Rated #1 in the country!!

Crazy girl is not sure she is going to accept and is waiting to hear from University of Wisconsin... apparently there will be new construction at Cornell the whole time she would be there, and cost of housing is way more expensive in Ithaca...

I know she did not get that practical nature from her mother....

I am so proud of her, now if I can convince her to specialize in exotics instead of Emergency/Critical Care....well and to move back to Washington...

I did my grad work at Columbia. Could I have gotten an equally excellent education at another school? Absolutely (although schools for my field are very few). Does the Ivy League name open doors? Like liquor peels off panties at a frat party! (Yes.)

Hold out to see financial aid packages. Cost of living in Ithica is outrageous but they may make a very attractive FA offer...

Congrats to your daughter! Acceptance into a competitive degree field is an amazing accomplishment, no matter the school. Best of luck to her!

Congrats to both you and your daughter!! That is something to be proud of no matter where she elects to go.

Congratulations! I am actually going to school for Pre-Veterinary Medicine right now. :) Tell her to check out the U of M - Twin Cities. It's an incredible campus. I'm going there after my four years are done at the instate college here in South Dakota.

It just occurred to me! You also have an adult daughter, I may not be the only adult on the forum. hehehe
