Dead Plants question.

Let me premise by saying I HATE reading about plants. (boring)

But I love my Cham, so I want to do the right thing.

My question is this:

I'm assuming that certain live plants are poison for our chams, but what about DEAD plants?

I'm trying to make my enclosure more cham friendly, but am struggling to find any fake trees that will fit his enclose and allow him to move around.

As I was driving around the mall today, I found some dead shrubbery that had broken off the landscaping in the parking lot area. I stopped my car (and traffic  ) and picked it up. (Several pieces actually)

What should I be concerned about with dead branches?

This was part of some type of shrub, about 3-4 feet tall: Can someone ID this?

My plan is to cut it down to size, trying to maximize branches for Jackson to climb and enjoy, attach it to the terrarium with large suction cups as well as add fake leaves to give it a more "alive" look.

(Our wolf wouldn't leave it alone, so she's in the picture.)

Well, if he eats any dead pieces of branch, which I doubt he would, it could possibly lead to clogging in his system. Other then that I can't think of anything else.

(If you want someone to ID it, post a picture)

If it was an ever green shrub you will want to remove the needles from it for sure or the leaves if it isn't, you will also want to cure the wood before putting it in the enclosure, usually baking it in the oven for 30 minutes would be fine to kill anything that may be in the bark or branches, then you'd be good to go

I used branches from my cherry tree in Omar's cage. I didn't bake it or anything as I know it is not diseased or anything but I did remove all the bark so he could not ingest it.
