Some entries did not qualify because:

I see at least 4 or 5 entries that do not meet the size and/or proportion requirement. There is also at least one entry using text/watermark. These are all good photos too. If these problems are not fixed before the entry deadline then they will unfortunately be removed. I will be around Saturday afternoon in case anyone needs help.

Size: The longest side of the photo must be at least 600 pixels

Proportion: The size ratio (smaller side / larger side) must be >= .65

Be sure to read the rules- It's disappointing to loose good entries.

My pic I thought was the right size. It was 600x450??? I had no text on it. It is the same format my last pic was and it was allowed? I guess I either missed something else or My pic just sucked that bad I was eliminated early???:) Would be nice to know why it is not there?????

If an entry is no longer in the gallery, it is because it did not meet the requirements.

If an entry is still in the gallery but is not shown as a voting option, it is because the photo did not make the list of finalists. For more info and discussion of this process check out: https://www.chameleonforums.com/new-contest-phase-1200

In a day or two only the finalists will remain in the gallery.

Does this help, or did I make things worse?

Nope, I understand.. My picture must have sucked, therefore it was removed from voting????:(

I haven't had the courage to enter a photo yet. It must be disappointing to not make the cut, but don't be so hard on yourself- was the subject of your photo 2 months old or less? I did see at least one that gave the age as 2.5 months old, which would have been too old for this particular contest.

Yeah it sucks... I think everyone should have a chance, as long as it is within the rules. As far as my pic it was within the specs of size and it was of my 2 month old veiled. I dont know, does'nt make me happy. Oh well...........

Guys... The contest used to allow all eligible entries into the voting period, however that wasn't working with so many voting options. It did not provide clear winners because the number of people voting was not enough to give a dynamic range in votes for the photos. You just had a whole lot of one votes for one photos, and then a few extras on certain photos. By eliminating some entries, and their photographers chance to vote on their own photo, you increase the competition and potential to pickout the best photo. It was possible for the winner to have only two or three votes, instead of the 8 or so they will get with an elimination round and fewer entries.

If you are looking to improve your photos, then you can always post questions, or post photos and ask for constuctive feedback. Or you can read this thread here for soem ideas: https://www.chameleonforums.com/how-can-i-improve-5799/

I think what most people should do, is actively take photos with the intention of using them for the contest, rather than pick a photo out of a group of photos that you were taking to pass the time.

Thanks Mike

There originally was no contest scheduled for December. Thanks goes out to FL Chams for offering a $100 prize and allowing the contest to continue.
