Hi Guys,

It has been a while since I have asked for help. I will fill out the medical clinic info if needed but I just wanted to get some opinions based on the photos.

Does my chameleon look dehydrated in these pics? Do his feet look ok? They've pretty much looked that way since I got him 3 months ago. I took them today.

I want to make sure that everything looks good before I get a second chameleon. I just bought a baby (4 months) Nosy Be male, but haven't picked him up yet.

Thanks all! I love you guys.

Where did you get it from? I may be wrong, but it looks like a Senegal to me. I have a Senegal and it looks just like that one.

As far as dehydration, Graceful or Senegal, it is probably WC, so dehydration is a good possibility. Lots of mistings to get it to drink and get nice and hydrated, also a good shower chamber treatment turned mine right around.

Got any ideas on the sex?

(Not trying to be rude by asking where you got it, but I know with my Senegal, it was a really complicated series of events that led me down the wrong path. It's a long story, but it turned out ok.)

Hard to offend me. I'm always open to feedback. There's no sense in being prideful when my little guy's life is potentially on the line =)

I got him from Petland... the experts here identified it as a gracilis (and so did the pet store, not that it counts for anything) a few months ago.

I am concerned that he isn't drinking. I recently changed his cage a little (added a second pothos) and I haven't found any poop so I can't confirm he's getting enough water.

His eyes look slightly sunken to me.

Thanks for your reply!

I beleive that is a male sengal, but I am no ID expert. Looks not bad in the hydration dept, but a nice show never hurts

It IS a male Graceful Chameleon. You can tell by the small ear flaps and tarsal spurs. Senegal Chameleons lack those traits.

Dammit, I caught the spur and knew male but thought it was the sengals that had em...thx Trace

I will concede to Trace on this one...he just nailed that I have a female Senegal, so he knows better. I was kind of hoping he would weigh in.

My Senegal was bought thinking that it was CB not a WC, I had also requested a male, but they claimed that they could not determine sex at their "young age" (something I still do not know, there guess was 2 months, though they also "guessed" that it was CB). After lots of care, and preperation for what is now known as a female, I have a very content Senegal.

Trace - I was basing my thinking of it being a Senegal by it's almost diamond shaped casque. From my research, Gracefuls tend to swoop upwards more than this one in question. I was also basing this all on pic 3. My female (I am getting myself used to saying female, so bear with me for a while) looks just like that in the head region.

Yes Trace is good at ID SHE has always helped me. SHE can also sex most chams at a glance. SHE is GREAT!!! ;):D

Thanks guys. I appreciate the feedback!

So he doesn't look dehydrated (based on the eyes) and his feet didn't seem to stick out. I think he lost a toe (before I got him) and his feet have been brown like that for 3 months but it doesn't seem to be spreading anywhere else so I'm guessing it's normal for my cham.

Bonus head shot... So cute...

He has to be the cleanest Graceful I've seen. He does not look to be dehydrated, however, watch for yellow/orange urates and the sunken in eyes.

Aw hell...I can't even tell the gender of humans...luckily that hasn't resulted in any awkward moments in the bedroom.

Sorry Trace...

Thanks everyone! I took him to the vet today because I'm a worry wart and I'm picking up a 4 month old Panther Nosy Be on Wednesday. I wanted to make sure my ducks were aligned before taking on another responsibility =)

Thanks again! Hope to have pics of the addition soon!
