Deremensis and Pfeffer's

A few pics I took today. I moved the female Trioceros deremensis into a different cage a little over a week ago so that I could use her old cage indoors. The new cage is a foot taller and wood framed. The live plant doesn't quite reach the top but she doesn't mind. She has stayed at the top on these dead branches ever since the move. In recent days she's taken on her "Fall" colors and has replaced her normal green with this orangish brown.

I also took another video to show how this species rocks back and forth when hunting. You can really see it in how much the branch she's standing on moves around.

And here are a few of my pair of Pfeffer's chameleons, T. pfefferi, who seem to be settling in quite well:

Nice pictures Kent. Your female deremensis looks great. I love her fall colors.
The pfeffers look great too!
Are you working at the show this weekend? If so I'll see you there.

Great stuff, Kent!!! The deremensis video is very cool. I noticed one of the cristatus females I had would vibrate her head very quickly when hunting. Only noticed it in her and not the other three. Pretty neat though. The pfefferi look very nice!!!! I love the red streaks in the female. Good pics too! I hope they continue to do well for you.

I cant compliment just one! All three are just so pretty! I do love the fall colors of your deremensis!

Beautiful chameleons and I really enjoyed the video. Deremensis are so different in appearance from other chameleons. There were a few at the captive breeders' expo here in October. Supposedly captive bred, but obviously not. They had parasites under their skin and looked like their dorsal crests had been beaten with a weedeater. Your girl looks beautiful.

your Pfeffers are simply amazing!!! and also your Dere is very beautiful.. but do something for the plant in his cage that is dying!!!

Weird. I coulda sworn I posted a response to this thread this morning. So, again, thanks for the compliments everyone. The Pfeffer's are really shy, unless you've got some food for them and then it's like they forget you're even there and will take it from your hands. The deremensis, well, what can you say? They're awesome animals.

Hi Tylene, nope, I just couldn't commit to the show this weekend. I just have way too much to catch up on. It looks like it should be a fun one, though.

Hi Jack from Italy. Don't worry, the branches she is on were broken off a tree in my yard and are supposed to be dead already. :) I just never broke the dead leaves off of them. Here's a picture that shows more of the cage:

Kent,

Thanks for posting this photographic update! The female looks amazing-- none of her siblings have attained such coloration, which I have only seen a couple of times before in mature, female, deremensis. This is really interesting.

Also, the video shows just how intense the feeding behavior can be, and of course, it showcases their distinctive defensive posture of presenting their prominent back when threatened. Thanks for that, too.

It's a good weekend for deremensis.

Cheers,

Fabián
