Did I freak him out?

I just got my Jackson's Chameleon on Tuesday and he seemed to be doing ok. He has been eating everyday, although only in small quatities. Maybe 1-2 crickets tops. Today I used a power drill to make a couple of holes in the cage for to put in some wooden dowels for him to walk on. He hid in the foliage and has not come out yet.

Yeah, you probably did... more the incursion into his space but also the vibration of the drill...in the future you might want to remove him completely from the enclosure before doing any remodeling.

Usually just making eye contact with a cham will scare em. He probably didnt know what to think when you started drilling : /

Yeah these are VERY smart little animals. From the other side of the room I'll look at the cage to check up and I see the little eyes roll back to look at me.

They know what you're doing, I know they're so smart just by watching their eyes. Little guys really do think things through. Like said above you just launched yourself into his space with a massive object that make a LOT of noise and shakes the whole house haha.

I'm sure he'll like the dowels to climb on, I just wouldn't so much as look at him for a bit. Let him settle a bit

Thanks for the comments

Thank goodness. He must have forgiven me. He's been out an about as ususal this morning.

Yeah when I did some of my remodeling for my girls cage, i didnt have a drill or anything but she still went to the lower part while I was adding some sticks and such to her enclosure, I think it is normal. But for your circumstance of using a power drill lol like someone else said maybe remove him :D
