Difference between regular humidifier&repti fogger?

I can get a household humidifier to humidify a room for $20 but a repti fogger/monsoon costs $70 to $130? Is there an actual difference between them because I what I think is they are all just ultrasonic vibrating pads that breaks down the water into fog/mist.

The answer is the regular humidifer will not die with in 2 months. I buy Crane brand at target and they last for years. I like the elephant model as you can aim the trunk at your cage. But if you need to spend lots of money, just but the repti fogger.

There are two basic types of humidifier...evaporative and ultrasonic. The evaporative has a paper wick that sits saturated with water, and the fan blows air across it. The air it expels is more humid than what it draws in. You have to replace the wick, as it gets clogged with mineral deposits, bacteria or even molds eventually.

An ultrasonic type uses the same basic method as a ReptiFogger to create a fine fog of droplets, and a fan pushes the fog wherever. No wick to replace, but you do have to keep the nebulizer disk (or pad) clean. The disk vibrates at a very high frequency to create the tiny droplets. It can be damaged by mineral deposits unless its kept clean. However, the room types seem to be better designed or better built than the Reptifoggers. Use reverse osmosis, demineralized, or distilled water or clean it often with vinegar. Clean the water reservoir of either type with dilute bleach solution to keep bacteria or mold from growing.
